You will find a bus and a guide waiting for you at Olbiaharbour “isola Bianca”. In about 10 mns drive you will reach the old town centre. Olbia is very ancient and was possibly founded by the Punics, according to the archaeological findings. It contains ruins from Phoenician and Carthaginian settlement to the Roman Era, when it was an important port, and the Middle Ages, when it was the capital of the Giudicato of Gallura, one of the four independent states of Sardinia. The tour will start with the Church of St Paolo, dating from the 17th century, which boasts its Galluresestyle and is really worth visiting. The surrounding area is filled with an array of old, beautiful houses and exquisite buildings. Remains from the Roman era, the defence wall and famous thermal baths can also be seen in this part of town. Another must-see church is the Church of San Simplicio, which is the oldest and the most important religious landmark in the Gallura region. The church, with its grand exterior and interior boasting refined architecture, also serves as evidence to the diffusion of Christianity in Sardinia. The second part of the tour is dedicated to the shopping in the old town.

Sardinia has many archaeological mysteries: Tombs of Giants,

Menhirs, Domus de Janas (house of the witches), Dolmens, Sacred Wells, Holy Sources and Nuraghi. We can find these megalithic constructions everywhere in the island. In the past it was possible to count more than 20000 constructions, now there are only 8000 sites. Our tour begins at the Olbia harbour “Isola Bianca”. A bus will take us to the Giants’ Tomb Su Monte de s’Ape, just 3 Kms from the town centre. The Giants’ Tomb of Olbia (1500 to 1100 BC) is one of the largest in Sardinia. These tombs got their names from local folklore due to the size of the stones used in the building. Thedead were laid in the central corridor. Offers to the gods and solemn religious ceremonies took place in front of the tomb in an area shaped as a large semi-circle, formed by massive standing stones. One of the most interesting nuraghi in the north of Sardinia is the nuraghe of Cabu Abbas, near Olbia. It’s located on a rocky promontory which dominates the gulf of Olbia at a sea level of 246 metres. We can assume that nuragic people used this construction in order to check the arrival of enemy boats.

Another world, 18 km from Olbia by bus. San Pantaleo, in

certain respects, evokes a village in the Dolomites. Historically known as "the fount of Beddoro", it constituted an island of well-being and salubrious health in a relatively untouched and unpopulated area. The village, like today, grew up thanks to the initiative of the inhabitants of the 'stazzi' in the area who in 1894 asked to the bishop of Tempio for the creation of a parish as a religious and social reference point. Strategically, San Pantaleo is situated on a raised platform, overlooking on one side the road for "Monti di Mola" (the current Costa Smeralda), and on the other, the road from Arzachena to Baja Sardinia. A dominant position, therefore, to keep a vigil on the coast. Starting from the 1970's then, a group of artists and painters populated the village, attracted by its atmosphere, far from thecoastal way of life, and absolutely informal. Artists, painters and sculptors, arrived here from England, Germany, Scandinavia and France, and they caused San Pantaleo to develop a sort of bohemian feel. Next to the foreigners, a group of Gallurese craftsman are located here, and they are highly sought after for their products crafted from natural materials: wood, beaten iron and other metals, but also terracotta and ceramic.

In the many rooms of the museum an exposition displays of ancient tools used to work in the vineyards and to press the grapes.

The Surrau winery dominates over 40 hectares of

farmlands mostly cultivated with vineyards spreading out in a sunny valley caressed by the north-west wind coming from the coast. The project was born through the harmonious blending of buildings and nature. Glass walls both exalt the landscape when looking out and illustrate the winemaking activities when looking in. Spaces are laid out in a sequence of work rooms, tasting rooms and showrooms in an attempt to optimize processing spaces and expose modern methods for vinification and wine preservation. The wines produced are destined for the global market and are ambassadors of the hard lands of Gallura.

You will visit the cellar, the winery and then we will taste some wine accompanied by typical Sardinia products.

Typical Sardinian Lunch at Il Muto di Gallura

In 1800, a feud between two families of shepherds caused many victims and till today it is not unusual to hear tales about the cruel bandit named "IL MUTO DI GALLURA".

This agriturismo named after the romantic bandit is equipped with a hunting reserve and an Anglo-Arabic-Sardinian horse riding. It consists of productive homes based on what it is produced on their land, on the agricultural activities and on their livestock resources. Situated in the Aggius area, 1KM from the center and 4 Km from Tempio Pausania, at about 500 meters above the sea level. In this agriturismo guests are offered only traditional healthy food: from generations cows, goats, sheeps and farm animals have been raised here and every ingredient used in the kitchen (cheese, pork meat, ham, vegetables in oil and in vinegar, wine) comes from organic agriculture and is prepared according to traditional recipes.

Golf class at the Pevero Golf Club

A bus will take the guests to the Pevero Golf Club, where a golf instructor will be waiting for them: he will teach them the basic rules and techniques of the game. They will have fun in a charming place and will enjoy one of the most wonderful views in Sardinia.

Pevero Golf Club: an extraordinary position for an equallyextraordinary golf course. Everything is special starting fromthe design by Robert Trent Jones, who, at the beginning ofthe Seventies (in 1978, Pevero Golf Club hosted the renowned Italian Open), implemented a very exclusivecourse scattered with terrible hazards created by nature itself more than by man and with a strong wind oftenblowing across it. Before, the whole area between Cala di Volpe and Golfo del Pevero was completely covered by the typical Mediterranean bushes, by rocks and natural ponds; it would have been a shame if he had destroyed thisbeauty. So, he have just removed some areas where the vegetation was too thick. The Pevero is considered one ofthe most beautiful courses in the world, is second to none thanks to the spectacular foreshortenings taken from the magnificent Costa Smeralda, stretching from Porto Rotondoto Porto Cervo. The view from the club house over the gulfof Pevero and the bay of Cala di Volpe are unforgettable.

An easy trip along a Forest track leading from an artificial

lake used for sports fishing to the lookout of Punta Casteddu. We walk along a cart way which crosses the State Forest, where you can pick cherries in spring and corbezzoli(Arbutus unedo) in autumn.

In summer, from the various panoramic sites which face the Costa Smeralda and the Gulf of Olbia, you can see right across the island from the isle of Tavolara to the Maddalena archipelago. During the walk various breaks are planned at the area' s natural springs and we can have lunch in one of the specially equipped areas. It 's also possible to extend the walk descending from the other side of Monte Pinu where you can often see tortoises.
