A2 MEDIA – G324 – SHOOTING SCHEDULE SHOT SHOT TYPE ACTION LOCATION

1 Mid shot This mid shot shows a full view of the pool area. And the water that is running down the waterfall. The camera is focused on the pool for a couple of seconds. The running water emphasizes the rolling feelings and sea fog.

Garden – pool area

2 Establishing shot

This shot is of the back of my house and a pan right and a slight tilt transition this to from the first shot of the pool. The point of this shot is to show a sense of location and to show that there is sun because the start of the song talks about the gleaming sun. After the establishing shot the camera zooms in to window. Over both shots one and two there will be a overlay shot which will stay on until the end of shot two this will be the h2o water effect in blue

Garden – house

3 Mid – long shot

This shot is near enough a static shot looking at the window in a bedroom. The effect is the gleaming sun shining though the window at the camera. The shot also shows a mid shot of the actor jack in a sitting position looking at his phone that shows him and his girlfriend of which this is all about. In this shot I will add smoke, which will show

House – bedroom shot

Page 2: Shooting Schedule

the beams of the sun coming in though the window.

4 Mid shot This shot is part of the performance section of the video, providing the lip-sync from the main singer and actor jack. The location and shot includes some lighting effects, which add to the theme and meaning of the song. The shot is static and looks directly at jack singing and playing the piano while looking at a picture of the girl

Garden - shed

5 mid – long shot

This shot shows jack, the main singer at the piano while singing the song for the video. The shot includes the lighting effects such as the wash pars in blue and the middle main spot light, lighting up the performer. This shot is taken from the back of the room and will be edited though cropping to create a panning motion that will gently crosses the screen.

Garden - shed

6 Establishing shot

This is a very interesting shot as it diagonally crosses down from the left to the right and will show the singer/actor stud against a fence looking out into open fields. The day will be sunny to show both sadness or loneness and happy times that have gone or are in the distance.

Field section

7 Long shot This shot is a monition shot, the camera will pan from right to left continuing to look at the singer/actor from behind looking at the open fields and trees in the distance. The panning will be fairly quick as too fit in other shots in this short-field section.

Field section

8 Mid – long shot

This shot shows jack stud against a fence post looking out into open fields. The camera slowly zooms out from a mid shot of jack to a long shot, which shows the open land and the fence and horses roaming around, the camera as its coming out it pans to the left This shot in particular shows that jack is thinking about the person he has lost. I also think that the way he acts in this scene shows that he is sad and reflecting, I believe the way he is stood reflects this.

Field section

9 Mid shot This mid shot shows jack in the main performance area in the garden shed. He is sat at the piano with all the stage lighting in operation behind. This scene is for the chorus and because of that there is the domes rotating round in red. The effect of the beams in this scene does suggest the actor’s emotions and feelings towards the situation

Shed section

Page 4: Shooting Schedule

and to this person, the contrast between red and blue is very important in this scene because it shows light and dark, hot and cold and I think that is what this song is all about. Like the shed scene before this scene does copy that one but to make it different the camera will pan the opposite way, this will ensure that I keep the same effect but from the viewers perspective it will keep it fresh.

10 Wide – establishing shot

The shed scene then fades on to the street section where we will see jack on a bike heading down the road. This scene is key to me for the viewer understanding what is going on in this section so I will place the actor underneath the street light to make sure that the area is fully lit so you can see what will be going on as it will be really dark. This shot will focus on the front of jack on the bike; the shot will be a wide – establishing shot, directly focused and tracking the actor’s movements on the bike.

Street section

11 Long shot This shot is a cut away shot from what’s happening with jack on the road. The camera angle will be a long shot showing all of Fiona, she will be stood on the pavement by the side of

Street section

Page 5: Shooting Schedule

a connecting road linked to the one that jack is going down, this detail is important as it connects to the lyrics in the song which is my whole aim in creating this video. The actor Fiona appears to shout at jack who is coming down the opposite road, trying to get his attention. I believe it is at this point where you will see the disconnection between the two actors, but this as the song does, leaves room for questions as to why there is a disconnect or a gap between there lives. And the main question I believe could be asked is why does jack not see her or why does he not know she is there, again these are all ideas that pop up.

12 Mid – long shot

This shot will be more closer than other camera angles on this location and that is because the viewer is suppose to see the expression on jacks face. The expression will express the feeling that he does recognize that there is a voice calling him but he does not recognize that voice or does not feel like he knows that person anymore and again that is left up to the imagination as to why that might be. As the lyrics say he misses a turn which suggests that that where the voice is

Street section

Page 6: Shooting Schedule

coming from is from that joining road, so in my literal translation of the lyrics I have come up with the above idea for this shot. This shot will then track jack as he comes right past the camera traveling past the road that he is looking into.

13 mid – long shot

This shot will show the bike going past the misted turn and the showing of a empty street, dimly lit by halogen coloured street lights, this suggests that there is a difference between the road he is on and the road he has just missed the turning for. The camera will continue to follow jack as he speeds down the road. In this shot I have used a white led torch to light up the bike and actor as the street lights did not cover this section, due to the led that I was using it matched the same color as the streetlights so looked as if it was them lighting him up.

Street section

14 Long – establishing shot

This shot ties right in with the lyrics and helps the meaning of the lyrics in this section. The shot will be from the other side of the road, the camera points looking over the road at the opposing pathway, in a zoomed out shot the camera tracks the actor riding up on to the pavement and up a

Street section

Page 7: Shooting Schedule

vertical pedestrian footway. Once the actor is just about to turn off on to this footway the camera will cut to the next shot

15 Long shot – mid/close up shot

This shot represents the lyrics ‘I stray to far from the road’ I would like to show that he is coming of from the road and going in a different direction to where the road was taking him. The actor rides up the path towards the camera so there is no need for zooming/ effects here because the movements of the actor are creating it naturally. The actor will then ride straight past and as he do you will get a view of the expression, which at this point will be expressionless, and I believe this allows for debate in to how he is feeling. The camera will then pan right around (about 180 degrees) to show him continuing up the path.

16 Establishing shot

This shot will show the location, which will be the beach and the water and the waves in the near distance. Jack the actor will be walking down the sand very close to the water as it comes in, the camera will pan to the right to follow him travelling down the beach. His costume shows that it is a cold day as he has a dark blue coat on and

Beach section

Page 8: Shooting Schedule

has his hands in his pockets. His walk will suggest that he is reflecting about his loss and is taking some time to think about the situation. There is a link in this location to the meaning of the song whereby the rolling mists come in of the sea and this is a perfect location to show that link that the writers of the song wanted. An idea of this shot could be that the mists that are a translation for darkness are actually changing him and making him think for clearly and maybe he has comedown to the beach to release that bad and negative feeling/s

17 mid shot There will be a quick fade to tie in with the slow song theme and then a shot of the water coming in to the beach, shot of the rolling waves. This for a brief second shows calm waves and water in a natural environment. The camera will slowly pan to the right as not to make the camera so static all of the time. This also suggests flow and movement in the video, which in this case is good as it’s a slow song.

Beach section

18 Long shot This shot will show the cut back to jack walking along the beach against the water, the camera is again just gently panning round as it

Beach section

Page 9: Shooting Schedule

follows him walking.

19 mid shot There is a further wave shot, such panning to show the waves coming in to the beach, the camera will be lower down to get a better angle of the water and also to make the waves look bigger as they turn over.

20 mid – long shot

This hot will show jack at the second performance area the out door one next to the pool. At this time there will be the pool spotlights on behind him and there will be smoke in the air lighting the beams up (linking to the idea of fog and mist). The camera angle will be a side view of jack lip-syncing to the song. He will also he playing the piano to the song as well but the keys will not be visible in this scene. The camera will be static for the rest of this shot.

Pool area – garden

21 Close up – behind shot Over the shoulder shot

This shot is an interesting shot in the main performance area, showing jack sat paying the piano while looking at a picture of him and the person he has lost. In the shot you will be able to see the beams of the spotlight for the performer and the h2o water effect moving about. This shot happens twice in this section of the video and I feel represents a sense

Garden shed – main performing area

Page 10: Shooting Schedule

of cold and loneness made by the cold led spotlight and the h2o which is set in a blue color.

22 mid – long shot

Cut back to the pool area and jack singing while playing the piano outdoors. Along with the smoke in the air that will look like fog there will also be in the left corner the water fall running and hopefully there will be fog coming of jacks breath as he sings showing again who cold it is.

Pool area - garden

23 Close up – behind shot Over the shoulder shot

Again same shot as used two shots ago, these cut backs are to make the shots as short as they can be without making them too short witch wont fit the theme of the slow moving song.

Garden shed – main performance area

24 mid – long shot

Cut back again to pool area where jack is still singing the song in the cold foggy conditions. Looking at the same picture of him and this person. Again this camera is static and shot will remain until the break in the song where the choir come in.

Pool area - garden

25 Extreme close-up shot

This shot will actually be two shots merged together (25&26). This shot (25) will shot jack in the study location. The shot will consist of a extreme close up of jacks face as he sings the up temp part of this song. The camera will track his face and capture all of his facial expressions

Study section

Page 11: Shooting Schedule

and this will be merged over the top of (shot 26)

26 Establishing shot

Shot 26 is the biggest establishing shot taken for this video, and includes the camera poisoned right at the other side of the garden facing to the pool area. The pool area will be visibly seen, as there will be the pool spotlights on and small torch lighting up the performer. The main effect that is captured in this scene will be the led dome light that will be positioned at one side of the piano along with the smoke machine this light will create a stunning Ariel effect. This shot will be layered behind shot (25) in the editing process. This will happen as I want to show the Ariel effect but also keep the lip-sync in this part so I believe that this will be the best idea.

Pool – garden section

27 mid – long shot

Cut back to the side view of the piano on the pool patio ‘singing sea fog rolling’ chorus lines. There will be the same smoke and lighting in the air.

Pool – garden section

28 Over the shoulder shot\mid -close-up

Shots (28&29) are linked and are actually two different shots that have been merged into one , too create a unique effect. The first shot is the over the sholder shot that features jack playing the piano while

Garden - shed

Page 12: Shooting Schedule

the camera focuses on his back and his head movements and also the h2o water effect coming over his right hand shoulder. This effect is to show the cold water pattern hitting the camera and jack making the viewer feel the same feeling of water and putting the audience in jacks position.

29 Close-up shot

This shot is showing a static camera angle close up to the keys of a piano used in the out door and shed areas. And this is where the piano playing syncs up with the music of the song. Both shots together I believe will look impressive as they are both set in a blue lighting effect.

Garden - shed

30 mid shot side shot

Shots (30&31&32) are linked and are all different shots merged together. Shot (30) shows a side view of jack and the beams of light shining at him from off camera, it shows him playing in sync with the music and also looking at the picture that he has though out the performance sections of this video. His face will be well lit I white as well as the piano in blue. Shots (31&32) will then appear in the shot.

Garden – shed

31 Close up This shot will appear in the near center of the screen and its showing Fiona’s side as she is walking towards jack in the street section. She is

Street section

Page 13: Shooting Schedule

lit from a small touch underneath the camera I am using

32 Close up Shows jack appear after Fiona and he is walking the opposite way towards the direction of Fiona, he is also lit the same way. With in these shots it does not make clear if they reach each other. And leaves it open for what happens next.

Street section

33 Close up This shot shows a static camera angle pointed down at the keys played by jack. It will show the final synced keys that are played to the song and will also show the final cord that jack will play and they will be a slight hold and then a fade out.
