SHOEBOX ELVES! On Monday night a group from UMW Circle 4 met to check boxes and complete some new ones for the time of dedica-tion on Sunday. You will see the boxes on display in the sanctuary this weekend, and then they will be delivered to a local collection site on their way to children around the world. Thank you so much for your help with this wonderful seasonal mission opportunity!

Dear Friends,
As fast as it got here, November is starting to speed by. I
wanted to highlight a couple of important things to keep on
your radar over the next several weeks.
This Sunday, Nov. 13, we will dedicate our Christmas shoe-
boxes, always a fun time! Also on Sunday, Elizabeth Koestler
will begin a new Women’s Sunday School class that will
meet at 9:30 a.m., in the Church Library.
Thursday, Nov. 17, we will participate in Fondren Un-
wrapped, our neighborhood’s annual holiday open house.
We’ll have a space jump, a petting zoo in the front lot, and
host several choirs in our Sanctuary. Santa will even be avail-
able for pictures! The festivities start at 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, Nov. 20, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we
invite you to turn in your financial commitments for the 2017
budget year. These pledges help our finance committee to
better anticipate our resources for the coming year. Also, that
evening at 5:00 p.m., we will join other Fondren churches at
Woodland Hills Baptist Church for our community Thanks-
giving service.
Then on Sunday, Nov. 27, we begin the season of Advent
with our Hanging of the Greens service. We will prepare our
hearts, as we prepare our sanctuary, to receive the gift of the
Christ Child.
Grace and Peace,
Ricky

“FONDREN UNWRAPPED” ON NOVEMBER 17 Next Thursday evening our neighbor-hood will be bustling with activity, lights, and various attractions as the merchants take part in this yearly event. Our front lawn will be bustling with the Bouncy House, a petting zoo (the camel will be back!), and hot cider
and candy treats for those who stop by. In addition to the outdoor activities, local school choirs will be performing in our sanctuary. This is a fantastic way for us to welcome visitors, show them our beautiful church home, and let them know about our weekly schedule and Advent activi-ties. There is a need for people to serve beverages, moni-tor the Bouncy House, and serve as greeters/ushers for those who come in to hear the music. You will have an opportunity to sign up on Sunday, email Priscilla Gaby at [email protected], or call her at (769)251-5383.
HONDURAS MISSION INTEREST MEETING 11:30 a.m., THIS Sunday, Nov. 13, at the church
If you’re thinking about going to Honduras, there will be a short interest meeting for next summer's mission trip this Sunday, November 13th, immediately after the worship service. There is no commitment at this time; this meeting is simply to gauge interest and distribute key information about the mission. If you have questions, please contact Hunter Upchurch ([email protected]).
UNITED METHODIST STUDENT DAY We’ll Honor Our College Students on Sunday, Nov. 27.
This is the day we recognize and honor our St. Luke’s col-lege students during morning worship. We will also pub-lish their names and addresses in the church bulletin that day so that we can stay in touch and help them maintain a connection with their church home. Below is a list of the names of this year’s college students we currently have on our records. Please give us current addresses, additions, etc. You may email [email protected], or call 601-362-6381.
