MONTHLY NEWS UPDATE SHIRE OF ASHBURTON TOM PRICE • ONSLOW • PARABURDOO • PANNAWONICA DECEMBER 2009 SHIRE PRESIDENT Cr Gregory Musgrave JP Tom Price Ward - 2013 • Construction of a multi-purpose shopping centre and mall in Tom Price. • The implementation of a Tourism Strategy culminating in the construction of a 4 star resort in Tom Price. • Upgrade of the Clem Thompson Oval and Pavilion. Cr Kerry White Onslow Ward - 2011 • Develop and implement a townscape strategy and plan for the town of Onslow. • Implementation of a 3 yr capital works program to improve foot paths & street lighting through out Onslow. • Construct an Age Care Facility in Onslow consistent with the Shires Age Care Strategy. Cr Lisa Shields Tom Price Ward - 2011 • Tom Price town Centre revitalisation. • Land development throughout the Shire. • Maintenance and upgrade of all Community Facilities. Cr Ivan Dias Paraburdoo Ward - 2013 • Construction of a multi-purpose Caravan Park and camping grounds in Paraburdoo. • Expansion and modernisation of the Paraburdoo Shopping Centre and Environment. • The implementation of a Tourism Strategy outlining a marketing program to attract visitors to Paraburdoo. The Shire of Ashburton President, Greg Musgrave congratulated Councillors & staff for the adoption of its 09/10 Budget as a result of a special meeting held in Tom Price. He reminded Councillors and Staff of the challenges and the huge tasks required to immediately begin construction on many of the projects. “It’s important to recognise the impact these projects will have on the Shire Communities, improving facilities throughout and regular updates will be provided over the coming year” he said. He also said “A more informative newsletter next year will keep everyone posted on good news stories and events.” IMPORTANT NOTICE - HOLIDAY CLOSURES Shire offices will close for the Christmas New Year holidays from 2pm Wednesday 23 December 2009 and reopen the start of business Monday 4 January 2010.
