WHAT IS SHIPPING BILL?

Shipping Bill is the main document required bythe Customs Authority for allowing shipment.

Shipping bill is prepared when ever you are

exporting any goods from your country toanother country.

It is the procedural requirement which may varyfrom country to country.

The shipping bill is prepared in the name of theexporter reflecting the goods, its quantity to beexported along with price.

It can be prepared by the exporter or its

agent.

The shipping bill prepared should be entered

in the data base of the Customs Authorities or

their authorized representatives office for

authentication / approval.

This process must be done in advance, before

shipment.

TYPES OF SHIPPING BILL

Duty free shipping bill

This type of shipping billis printed on white paper and used for the goodsfor which duty is not applicable. It is also used forthe goods manufactured out of material

imported under the duty free import.

Drawback Shipping Bill This type of shipping billis to be used for the export of goods on which

Duty Drawback is available or to be madeavailable for fixation. It is to be printed on greenpaper.

Shipping Bill for ShipmentofExciseBond- Thistype of shipping bill is used when goods are

imported for re-export and kept in bond. This isto be printed on blue paper.

Coastal Shipping Bill This is used for shipmentof goods from one port to another by sea withinIndia.

Dutiable Shipping bill - This type of shipping billis used for the goods subject to export duty onwhich duty drawback will be either allowed ornot allowed. This is to be printed on yellow paper.

PROCESSING OF SHIPPING BILL

The following are the documents required for

the processing of shipping bill: -

GR forms (in duplicate) for shipment to all thecountries.

4 copies of the packing list mentioning the contents,quantity, gross and net weight of each package.

4 copies of invoices which contains all relevantparticulars like number of packages, quantity, unit rate,

total f.o.b./ c.i.f. value, correct & full description ofgoods etc.

Contract, L/C, Purchase Order of the overseas buyer.

AR4 (both original and duplicate) and invoice.

Inspection/ Examination Certificate.
