We make so many configurationsbecause we know that for every angler that wants a 6' 6" bass rodwith lightning-quick tip, there’s another that prefers a 7' rod for thesame conditions. So in order to make sure that you get exactly whatyou want, we list all of our rods in this catalog.

PowerWe define power as the strength required tomove a fish. Each of our series of rods is creat-ed with various blends of materials and rated todescribe its appropriate power. The power foreach rod is determined by analyzing its applica-tion, environmental conditions and fighting style.

ActionThe action of a rod describes where it flexesboth during the cast and on the retrieve. Theaction, in combination with materials and compo-nents, determines a rod's performance. A rodwith an Extra Fast action flexes closest to the tip.As the action descends from Extra Fast to Slow,the flex descends through the rod blank towardsthe butt. The design of each action is customizedto a particular fishing application. We take intoconsideration such variables as angler prefer-ences, personal styles and the presentation andperformance of lures on both the delivery and inthe retrieve. These variables can be optimizedwhen the proper action is combined with theproper lure selection.

Rail Rods, Tallus® Blue Water, Tallus® Ulua and Tallus® Kingfishseries rods.

Have fun and enjoy the security of our Limited Lifetime Warrantyprogram. We will replace the original retail purchaser’s rod, at nocharge, when the damage has occurred under normal fishing con-ditions. Rods damaged by accident or by misuse are not cov-ered under this Limited Lifetime Warranty program but may berepaired or replaced at our discretion for a nominal fee. This pro-gram makes our warranty replacement simple.

We give you two choices to select from under our LimitedLifetime Warranty program:

1) OVER-THE-COUNTER REPLACEMENTThe first choice is our over-the-counter replacement program,offered at participating dealers. These participating dealers havethe option of honoring valid warranty claims in their store or canrefer any claim back to Shimano®. All you have to do is bring backthe damaged rod to the dealer from where you purchased it,accompanied with your valid dated sales receipt.

2) SEND THE ROD BACKThe second choice under our Limited Lifetime Warranty programis to send the rod directly back to Shimano for evaluation. Ouraddress is listed on the back cover. If you choose to send it backto us, send it postage prepaid and insured, accompanied by yourvalid and dated sales receipt with a brief note describing the dif-ficulty you are experiencing. Rods that are repaired or replacedunder this Limited Lifetime Warranty program will be shippedback to you with Shimano paying the returned shipping charges.

Our Carbomax®, Scimitar®, Sojourn®, Stimula®, FX®, Solara® andTDR® series rods are covered under our One Year LimitedWarranty program. Under this program, we will replace the rodat no charge when the damage has occurred under normal fish-ing conditions. Just send the rod back to Shimano, asdescribed above, within one year of purchase and we will sendyou a replacement. For complete rod warranty details pleasevisit www.shimano.com.

AFTCO® Aluminum Radiused Gimbal Machined fromsolid stock marine aluminum, this radiused gimbal isextremely durable yet lightweight. All exposed edges andextra heavy tapered feet are polished to prevent deckscarring and minimize wear on fighting belts. This gimbalhas a full radius machined for greater stability whenstand up fishing with a fighting belt.

AFTCO® Slip-Over Reel Seat The AFTCO® Slip-Over reelseat is machined, not stamped or rolled, from the finestmarine aluminum. The hood is fixed to the barrel, andthen epoxied for extra strength. Fine, rounder threads pro-duce a silky smooth locking action and the locking ringsoffer a heavier knurled surface for easier turning. TheTallus® Stand Up series rods feature this reel seat in acustom anodized Tiagra ® gold finish.

AFTCO® Storabutt™ The AFTCO® Storabutt™ is a handleand reel seat combination designed especially for biggame anglers who use curved butts. The reel seat is fer-ruled at both ends to permit removal of the butt sectionof your rod without having to also remove your reel. Thismakes it easier to store curved butts, especially on boatswhere storage is an issue.

AFTCO® Unibutt® The one piece aluminum Unibutt® isprecision machined so the pin-plug, gimbal, fixed hoodand ferrule are in perfect alignment with the guides.
