Sheriff: Testing clears 5 guns in camper's death DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - Five guns voluntarily submitted by owners for ballistic testing have been ruled out as the weapon that killed a camper on July 3 in the Rainbow Falls Park area, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. The sheriff's office has offered to conduct testing for gun owners who were in the area on the evening 60-year-old Glenn Martin was struck -- possibly by a stray bullet from a high-powered rifle -- as he was about to roast marshmallows with his grandchildren and other family members. Despite loved ones' frantic efforts to drive Martin down the mountain for medical aid, he died. "The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is currently working to exclude firearms that were not involved in the shooting death of Glenn Martin," the sheriff's office said earlier this month. "We recognize that there were numerous people shooting in the park on July 3rd, many of whom may be worried the fatal shot could have come from their firearm." Hanavan said investigators have been unable to identify the person who fired the shot.
