European Santicizer® 148

Plasticizer Product Profile Product Description Chemical type : Isodecyl Diphenyl Phosphate Santicizer® 148 Plasticizer imparts to PVC a low-temperature flexibility almost equivalent to that of DOP Benefits The characteristic properties of Santicizer® 148 are:

• GOOD FLAME RETARDANCY • LOW SMOKE • EASY PROCESSABILITY • LOW VOLATILITY

Santicizer® 148 is a highly effective Phosphate Plasticizer providing economical self-extinguishing properties. It is introduced into articles when safety is a most important consideration; as, for example, in upholstered furniture, coverings for public transportation, wall coverings and cable insulation. Santicizer® 148 produces pseudo-plastic PVC - plastisol formulations that are extremely viscosity stable. Flame retardant products made with Santicizer® 148 have better low temperature resistance and are more pliable than those made with other aromatic phosphates. Santicizer® 148 combines the advantages of flexibility at low temperatures, the effectiveness and the ease of use of Octyl Phthalate, with the fireproofing properties of phosphates. As a result, it can be substituted part-by-part for DOP and increase the fire resistance of the finished product while the latter's principal properties remain unchanged. Due to its low volatility, the properties of flame retardancy and flexibility imparted by Santicizer® 148 to PVC articles are well retained at low temperatures. Santicizer® 148 is particularly recommended for low smoke vinyl cable sheath when flame retardancy, flexibility at low temperatures and low ageing at high temperatures must be combined. Santicizer® 148 is perfectly compatible with natural and synthetic rubber; in amounts of 15 to 20 parts, Santicizer® 148 improves the ease of application while maintaining or improving the reaction to fire properties of rubber such as neoprene, nitrile rubber and SBR. Santicizer® 148 is an excellent plasticizer for nitrocellulose and chlorinated rubber varnishes. It is also highly compatible with acrylics such as PMMA.
