R&D STRATEGY MAPPING INITIATIVE - KAZAKHSTAN

Phase 1: 2010-2011

Shell initiated Technology Mapping Exercise with the industry to identify business driven technology development priorities oriented on key industry needs. Unique material on technological challenges & solutions for the key OG

assets. Consensus among the recognized industry experts – Technology Target

Areas. Leverage of local insight and expertise - Collaboration with KING at all

stages.

Phase 2: 2011-2012

R&D/Technology Roadmap to strengthen local R&D capability/capacity (Nazarbayev).

Alignment of R&D programs at the national level and enabling focused cooperation between the OG industry and local research organizations.

A guide for the government to formulate priorities for technology development and focus their funding in R&D.

Recommend encouragement measures by the government to stimulate R&D development.
