The mediocre teacher tells.  The good teacher explains.

The superior teacher demonstrates.

The great teacher inspires.  ~William Arthur Ward

Teachers  pass on knowledge and values to children, prepare them for further education and for working life, and are main contributors to good education.

Teachers are one of the main pillars of a sound and progressive society.

Teachers bear the weight and responsibility of teaching, and, apart from parents, are the main source of knowledge and values for children.

Traditional Classroom Environment

“Students are encouraged to think openly and think for themselves, only after memorizing everything they are told by the teacher or made to read in a textbook. By this time, if you think for yourself, question things that don't seem right or question things that don't seem relevant, you go away empty handed, ridiculed for "not paying attention to the teacher." -- An 18 year old

Integrating Technology

"Digital natives" in the classroom requires teachers to "teach" differently.

When seamless technology integration is a priority, sound scientific research shows that students begin taking greater responsibility for their own education, teachers become facilitators instead of lecturers, classrooms become dynamic and flexible environments that develop a love of learning and knowledge. And technology integration naturally develops critical thinking skills.

By incorporating the kinds of tools and technologies that students are already using into teaching and learning activities, teachers can engage and motivate students, and foster a passion for lifelong learning outside the walls of the classrooms and school buildings.
