Caution Concerning Lamp Replacement

This SHARP projector uses a DMD panel. This very sophisticated panel contains 983,040 pixeis(micromirrors). As with any high technology ebctronic equipment such as large screen TVs,video systems and video cameras, there are certain acceptable tolerances that the equipmentmust conform to.This unit has some inactive pixeb within acceptable tolerances which may result in inactive dotson the picture screen. This will not affect the picture quality or the life expectancy of the unit.

11. Power SourcesThis product should be operated only from thetype of power source indicated on the markinglabel. If you are not sure of the type of powersupply to your home, consult your product dealeror local power company. For products intendedto operate from battery power, or other sources,refer to the operating instructions.
12. Grounding or PolarizationThis product isprovided with one of the followingtypes of plugs. If the plug should fail to fit into thepower outlet, please contact your electrician.Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug.a. Two-wire type (mains) plug.b. Three-wire grounding type (mains) plug with
a grounding terminal.This plug will only fit into a grounding typepower outlet.
13. Power-Cord ProtectionPower-supply cords should be routed sothat theyare not likely to be walked on or pinched by itemsplaced upon or against them, paying particularattention to cords at plugs, conveniencereceptacles, and the point where they exit fromthe product.
14. LightningFor added protection for this product during alightning storm, or when it is left unattended andunused for long periods of time, unplug it fromthe wall outlet and disconnect the cable system.This will prevent damage to the product due tolightning and power-line surges.

Caution concerning the setup of the pro-
jector
[] For minimal servicing and to maintain highimage quality, SHARP recommends that thisprojector be installed in an area free fromhumidity, dust and cigarette smoke. When theprojector is subjected to these environments,the vents and lens must be cleaned more of-
ten. As long as the projector is regularlycleaned, use in these environments will not
reduce the overall operation life of the unit.Internal cleaning should only be performedby an Authorized SharpVision Service Cen-ter or Dealer.
When using the projector in high-altitude
areas such as mountains (at altitudes of
approximately 4,900 feet (1,500 meters)
or more)
[] When you use the projector in high-altitudeareas with thin air, set "Fan Mode" to "High".Neglecting this call affect the longevity of theoptical system.
Warning about placing the projector in
a high position
[] When placing the projector in a high position,ensure that it is secured carefully to avoid per-sonal injury caused by the projector fallingdown.
Do not subject the projector to hard im-
pact and/or vibration.
[] Protect the lens so as not to hit or damagethe surface of the lens.
Rest your eyes occasionally.
[] Continuously watching the screen for longhours will cause eye strain. Be sure to occa-
sionally rest your eyes.
Do not set up the projector in places ex-
posed to direct sunlight or bright light.[] Position the screen so that it is not in direct
sunlight or room light. Light falling directly onthe screen washes out the colors, makingviewing difficult. Close the curtains and dimthe lights when setting up the screen in asunny or bright room.
Caution regarding placing of the projec-tor
[] Place the projector on a level site within theadjustment range (8 degrees) of the adjust-ment foot.
[] After the projector is purchased, a faint smellfrom the vent may appear when the power isfirst turned on. This is normal and is not a
malfunction. It will disappear after the projec-tor is used for a while.

Avoid locations with extremes of tem-
perature.
[] The operating temperature of the projector isfrom 41°P to 95°P (+5°C to +35°C).
[] The storage temperature of the projector is
from -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to +60°C).
Do not block the exhaust and intake
vents,
[] Allow at least 11 W16 inches (30 cm) of spacebetween the exhaust vent and the nearestwall or obstruction.
[] Be sure that the intake vent and the exhaustvent are not obstructed.
[] If the cooling fan becomes obstructed, a pro-tection circuit will automatically put the pro-jector into standby mode to prevent overheatdamage. This does not indicate a malfunc-tion. (See pages 52 and 53.) Remove the pro-jector power cord from the wall outlet and waitat least 10 minutes. Place the projector wherethe intake and exhaust vents are not blocked,
plug the power cord back in and turn on theprojector. This will return the projector to thenormal operating condition.
[] Whenturningofftheprojector,thecoolingfanrunstodecreasetheinternaltemperatureforawhile.Unplugthepowercordafterthecool-ingfanstops.Theperiodthecoolingfanrunswillvary,dependingonthecircumstancesandtheinternaltemperature.
Cautionregarding usage of the projector
[] When using the projector, be sure not to sub-ject it to hard impact and/or vibration, as thiscan result in damage. Take extra care withthe lens. Before moving the projector, be sure
to unplug the power cord from the wall outlet,and disconnect any other cables connectedto it.
[] Do not carry the projector by holding the lens.[] When storing the projector, re-attach the lens
cap. (See page 1t ).[] Do not expose the projector to direct sunlight
or place next to heat sources. Doing so mayaffect the cabinet color or cause deformation
of the plastic cover.
Other connected equipment
[] When connecting a computer or other audio-visual equipment to the projector, make the
connections AFTER unplugging the powercord of the projector from the AC outlet andturning off the equipment to be connected.
[] Please read the operation manuals of the pro-
jector and the equipment to be connected forinstructions on how to make the connections.
Using the projector in other countries
[] The power supply voltage and the shape of
the plug may vary depending on the regionor country you are using the projector in.When using the projector overseas, be sureto use an appropriate power cord for the coun-
try you are in.
Temperature monitor function
[] If the projector starts to overheat due to setup
_roblems or blockage of the air vents, "_" and
" will illuminate in the lower left cornerof the picture. If the temperature continues torise, the lamp will turn off, the temperature warn-
ing indicator on the projector will blink, and aftera 90-second cooling-off period the projector will
enter standby mode. Refer to "Maintenance In-dicators" on page 52 for details.

,, The cooling fan regulates the internal tem-perature, and its performance is automatically
controlled. The sound of the fan may changeduring projector operation due to changes inthe fan speed.This does not indicate malfunc-tion.
,, Do not unplug the power cord during projec-tion or cooling fan operation. This can causedamage due to rise in internal temperature,as the cooling fan also stops.

You can adjust the focus with the focusring on the projector.
Rotate the focus ring to adjust the fo-cus while watching the projected image.

Cleaning the projector
[] Ensure that you have unplugged the powercord before cleaning the projector.
[] The cabinet as well as the operation panel ismade of plastic. Avoid using benzene or
thinner, as these can damage the finish on thecabinet.
[] Do not use volatile agents such as insecticideson the projector.Do not attach rubber or plastic items to the
projector for long periods.
The effects of some of the agents in the plasticmay cause damage to the quality or finish of theprojector.
[] Wipe off dirt gently with a soft flannel cloth.[] When the dirt is hard to remove, soak a cloth in
a mild detergent diluted with water, wring thecloth well and then wipe the projector.
Strong cleaning detergents may discolor, warp
or damage the coating on the projector. Makesure to test on a small, inconspicuous area onthe projector before use.

[] Use a commercially available blower or lenscleaning paper (for glasses and camera lenses)
for cleaning the lens. Do not use any liquid typecleaning agents, as they may wear off the

About the temperature warning indicator
If the temperature inside the projector increases, due to blockage of the air vents, or the setting location"_" will illuminate in the lower left corner of the picture. If the temperature keeps on rising, the lamp
will turn off and the temperature warning indicator will blink, the cooling fan will run, and then the projec=
tot will enter standby mode. After "_" appears, be sure to perform the measures described on page53.
About the lamp indicator
[] When the remaining lamp life becomes 5% or less, #!! (yellow) and "Change The Lamp" will bedisplayed on the screen. When the percentage becomes 0%, it will change to W (red), the lamp wil
automatically turn off and then the projector will automaticaNy enter standby mode. At this time, thelamp indicator will illuminate in red.

_, If the power is turned off for a brief moment due to power outage or some other cause while using
the projector, and the power supply recovers immediately after that, the lamp indicator will illumi-nate in red and the lamp may not be lit. In this case, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet,
replace the power cord in the AC outlet and then turn the power on again._,The cooling fan keeps the internal temperature of the projector constant and this function is con-
trolled automatically. The sound of the cooling fan may change during operation because the fan
speed may change and this is not a malfunction.
• Do not unplug the power cord after the projector has entered standby mode and while the coolingfan is running. The cooling fan runs for about 90 seconds.

Regarding the Lamp
Lamp[] It is recommended that the lamp (sold separately) be replaced when the remaining lamp life becomes
5% or less, or when you notice a significant deterioration in the picture and color quality. The lamp life(percentage) can be checked with the on-screen display. (see page 4,9)

Cautien Ceneeming the Lamp[] This projector utilizes a pressurized mercury lamp. A loud sound may indicate lamp failure. Lamp
failure can be attributed to numerous sources such as: excessive shock, improper cooling, surfacescratches or deterioration of the lamp due to a lapse of usage time.
The period of time up to failure largely varies depending on the individual lamp and/or the conditionand the frequency of use. It is important to note that failure can often result in the bulb cracking.
[] When the lamp replacement indicator and on-screen display icon are illuminated, it is recommendedthat the lamp be replaced with a new one immediately, even if the lamp appears to be operating
normally.[] Should the lamp break, there is also a possibility that glass particles may spread inside of the
projector. In such a case, it is recommended you contact your nearest Authorized SharpVision ServiceCenter or Dealer to assure safe operation.
[] Should the lamp break, the glass particles may spread inside the lamp cage or gas contained in thelamp may be vented into the room from the exhaust vent. Because the gas in this lamp includes
mercury, ventilate the room well if the lamp breaks and avoid all exposure to the released gas. In caseof exposure to the gas, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Replacing the Lamp" Do not remove the lamp unit from the projector right after use. The lamp will be very hot and may
cause burn or injury.

this Sharp brand product, when shipped in its original container and sold or distributed inCanada by Sharp or by an Authorized SharpDealer:
Sharp warrants that this product is free, under normal use and maintenance, from any defects in material and workmanship. If anysuch defects should be found in this product within the applicable warranty period, Sharp shall, at its option, repair or replace the
product as specified herein.
This warranty shall not apply to:(a) Any defacts caused or repairs required as a result of abusive operation, negligence, accident, improper installation or ina_roprlate
use as outlined in the owner's manual.
(b) Any Sharp product tampered with, modified, adjusted or repaired by any party other than Sharp, Sharp's Authorized ServiceCentres or Sharp's Authorized Servicing Dealers.
(c) Damage caused or repairs required as a result of the use with ifams nat speciffad or approved by Sharp, including but not limitedto head cleaning tapes and chemical cleaning agents.
(d) Any replacement of accessories, glassware, consumable or peripheral items required through normal use of the product includng

Should this Sharp product fail to operate during the warranty period, warranty service may be obtained upon delivery of the Sharp
product together with proof of pulchase and a copy of this LIMITED WARRANTY statement to an Authorized Sharp Service Centreor an Authorized Sharp Servicing Dealer. In home warlanty service may be provided at Sharp's discretion on any Sharp televisionwith the screen size of 27" or larger and on any Sharp Over The Range Microwave Oven.
This warranty constitutes the entire express warranty granted by Sharp and no athel dealer, service centre or their agent or employee
is authorized to extend, enlarge or transfer this warranty on behalf of Sharp. To the extent the law permits, Sharp disclaims any andall liability for direct or indirect damages or losses or for any incidental, special or consequential damages or loss of profits resultingfrom a defect in material or workmanship relating to the product including damages for the loss of time or use of this Sharp productor the loss of information. The purchaser will be lesponsible for any removal, reinstallation, transportation and insurance costsincurred.
