Pastor’s Place March 1

Sharon Baptist Monthly News2016Greetings from Pastor James

Hello Sharon Baptist Church, I pray that all of you have been well. I am very thankful for all the Lord is doing among us. I am grateful for the Lord’s grace, mercy and love. I hope you are too.

I wanted to thank everyone that was involved with the Senior Saints luncheon. This was my first one I have ever seen anywhere and it was wonderful. I wanted to let all our Senior Saints know how much you are appreciated and I hope the Senior Saint’s lunch was an encouragement to you all.

I wanted to thank the Secret Pal’s for their participation, gifts and love they showed to our Senior Saints. I wanted to thank all who worked on the food. The lunch was great.

I wanted to also thank Sticks and Strings for all the music and entertainment you provided throughout the day. The music sounded great. I wanted to thank those who worked on the sound system for the Senior Saint’s luncheon; setting up, organizing, running the system and putting it away was a lot of work.

So again, thank you to all of you who were involved in any way and who were able to attend. The Senior Saints Luncheon is one of the events that make Sharon Baptist Church a great family in the Lord.

I am also excited about an opportunity for our church. Our church has the privilege and opportunity to help carry out the great commission in King William County Public Schools with the Good News Bible Club. The Good News Bible Club is an after school program that will be started on February 18th and will run for about 10 weeks. During these 10 weeks we get to pray with the kids; get the word of God in their hands; teach Bible lessons to them; share with them with snacks and music and we get the opportunity to love them in the Lord. Members of our church have worked on this program a long time. Many give to see the program continue. Our church will have the chance to formally “adopt” this program. This will allow people to donate to the program easier. If you want to support this program you can just donate to Sharon and mark the donation “Good News Bible Club”. I am so excited that the Lord has given us the chance to make a difference. I ask you to pray for this program and the heart of each kid involved.

As many of you know Justice Scalia passed away recently. This will open a spot on the Supreme Court that could help decide the direction of our nation for the next generation or two. We need to pray that a godly choice will be placed in the Supreme Court.

Sharon Baptist Monthly NewsRemember the words of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,  for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

Please remember to look on your Church Calendar at the normal monthly events. We grow in the Lord as we participate. If you have an announcement please let Alyce, Me, Bill Soule and Chris White know so we can get it into the bulletin and on the screens.

May God bless you and keep you all.

In Christ,

Pastor James [email protected]

Sharon Baptist Monthly NewsR.A.K. (Random Act of Kindness) Youth Bake Sale was held on Sunday, January 31st and we want to thank everyone that helped with its success. The total amount of money made from the sale was $261.00 and all of that went to help one of our families within Sharon with their expenses.

On Thursday, February 11th we took 7 youth to Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg to an event called FEARLESS. This was a first time event for Lifepoint and it was a great first time! There was plenty of music and then a message given by one of their pastors. The message was from the book of Daniel - Be fearless by not giving into the pressures around us like the three brothers, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego.

The True Love Project has begun! This is an 8 week study on purity and this go 'round, we welcome our youth girls starting at age 12 through 9th grade (originally this was age 12 - 8th grade). As of right now we plan to meet every other Sunday in the youth Sunday school room after worship so be sure to bring your lunch. I will provide drinks and sweets!

We are in the works right now of making a video for an entry into the Create for Christ contest sponsored by Entrust Financial Credit Union. They will award the winning youth groups with $2,000.00 towards their mission trip! This is our 2nd year entering the contest and 40% of our success will depend on how many votes our video receives on Facebook. We will let everyone know when it becomes available for voting!

Looking Ahead March 26th Youth for Hire job coming up – Rabbit Show @ Mangohick F.D. Helping Hands Mission Camp – Dates are July 10th – 15th, Cost is $154.65
