83 shops in Sharjah to receive solar power

Sharjah: Queen of Green and Sharjah Municipality has announced a partnership to

prevent shop owners from going out of business or poisoning their customers.

83 shops have been fined for unplugging their fridges overnight to reduce theirelectricity bills putting their customers lives in danger from contaminated food.

Understanding the underlying causes of their actions and then providing a practical

solution for the cause balances economic, health and environmental challenges so all

stakeholders needs are met said Gill Wallace Hope, Founding Director of Queen of

Green.

Inspectors from the municipalitys Food Control Division at the Department of Health

inspected around 1,200 food outlets in Sharjah as part of a campaign to promote

healthy methods of food preservation and storage.

The campaign confiscated 720kg of food products that were being sold past their expiry

dates, said Dr Rasha Ahmad Al Qasimi, Assistant Director-General for Health,

Environment and Quality at Sharjah Municipality.
