Steel Constructions
The number of all-steel construction projects built byECC for various customers is steadily increasing. Overthe past 20 years, ECC has consumed more than onelakh tonnes of steel for industrial structures as well as
related infrastructure facilities. ECCs fabrication shopsat Kancheepuram, Pondicherry and Pithampur havebeen meeting this growing need for fabricated steel fordomestic and international customers. L&Ts state-of-the-art modular fabrication facility at Hazira in Gujarat isone of the largest in the whole of South Asia.
In addition to bridge structures, industrial plants and longspan storage structures, steel structures have becomea major component of multiplexes. Airport terminalbuildings, hangars, sports stadiums and the new lookrailway station buildings are now using a combinationof artistically created and aesthetically pleasing steel
structures.
The new station buildings built by L&T at Chennai formetro rail transit system (MRTS) have adopted the barrelvault, aerofoil roofing systems as well as cable stay typeof roof.
For the 1.2 MTPA state-of-the-art Lafarge Surma CementPlant at Chhatak, Sunamganj in north east Bangladesh,L&T constructed a 17.5 km long cross country beltconveyor for transporting limestone and shale from
