S H A P E Y O U R F U T U R EAPPLY FOR AN ACS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
YOUR FUTURE IN ICTWhat will distinguish you from other applicants when
you apply for a job?
Do you want relevant work experience that will give
you an insight into what the ICT industry is really like?
Do you want to get a scholarship worth up to $28,000
to learn new skills and get vital experience?
Do you want to build a valuable business network?
If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions
then you should apply for an ACS Foundation (ACSF)
scholarship. The ACS Foundation currently offers over
200 scholarships every year to university students.
As a student, an ACS Foundation scholarship can help
shape your future, by giving you positive career
development through practical experience. When
applying for a job in ICT, an applicant with real
industry experience will stand out from other
graduates with no industry experience. Let’s face it,
employers recognise the importance of relevant work
experience.
An ACS Foundation scholarship also offers a pathway
to employment with donor companies. Past
experience has shown that recipients have been
offered employment by donor companies, on
completion of their scholarship.
ACSF SCHOLARSHIPSThere are two main ACS Foundation Scholarship
Programmes:
• Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
• Grow a Graduate (GROW)
WIL scholarships provide project based real life work
experience relevant to the student’s academic
studies, and run over varying periods up to 48 weeks.
You gain industry relevant skills and experiences that
enhance both your future studies and your work
choices after graduation.
GROW scholarships are philanthropic grants where
donors encourage you to develop the skills they
require. Donors of this scholarship type are
encouraged to blend in WIL programme elements that
assist students to enhance their work choices after
graduation.
Most WIL scholarships pay students between
$25,000 - $28,000 for the 48 week work period, or
pro-rata for shorter periods. The majority of ACS
Foundation scholarships are WIL scholarships
because donors see there is more value to the
students from this type of scholarship support, and
they are looking to put something back into the
industry.
BENEFITSFinancial
While working for your donor you will receive tax free
payments up to $28,000. This normally includes up to
4 weeks of annual leave.
Experience
A scholarship offers valuable industry experience
doing real work. This gives the opportunity to apply
knowledge and skills learnt while at university.
Career
An applicant with real industry experience will stand
out amongst other graduates. Completing a
scholarship demonstrates your initiative as well as
your knowledge and skills to a potential employer. It’ll
put you one step ahead of the competition when
applying for a job.
Skills
Completing a work integrated learning scholarship
puts your skills to the test and demonstrates your
proficiency. In short, it validates your skills and
demonstrates your worth.

“ACS Foundation Scholarships provide outstanding opportunities for students to complete ICT studies and gain
valuable hands-on experience that will shape their future careers and differentiate them from their peers.”

WHAT STUDENTS SAYBelow are some testimonies of students that have
completed their scholarships. See what they
thought of their scholarship.
“The work is really exciting – it’s not like doing
assignments that never see the light of day. I’m
working on real-life products and am solving real
customer problems and that’s been a fabulous
experience.”
- Shobhit Nanda, 12 month internship at AgilentTechnologies
“I’ve really enjoyed the time at eProgram and have
even done some consulting at customer sites. It’s
a very relaxed environment and I’ve gained a lot of
knowledge. It’s very different comparing
knowledge from university, which is all pretty
basic, with how things operate in the real world.
Working at eProgram has been a wonderful
experience and given me a different perspective
on my university studies as well. I used to have
programming at the top of my list of elective
subjects, but now I understand that the IT world is
very big and there are many more areas than
programming that I want to explore.”
- Sarinah Chen, 12 month internship witheProgram
“The scholarship has made an enormous
difference since it gives me much more time to
spend on my coursework. The money from the
scholarship certainly makes a big difference in
covering everyday living costs as well as expenses
associated with my studies. I’m currently planning
to continue my studies and do my Honours next
year, and will really appreciate having the ACS
Foundation behind me.”
- Ben Williams, Scholarship Winner
“After seeing an advertisement for the ACS
Foundation at RMIT, I applied for a scholarship.
Overall, it has been a fantastic opportunity. Apart
from the scholarship’s financial rewards, I have
gained invaluable workplace skills and experience
in the ICT industry. This has enhanced my
academic studies and delivered other benefits,
such as networking with industry professionals
and extending the breadth of my ICT knowledge.”
- Charles Ojaimi, Scholarship Winner
