PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

This month’s bulletin is short and sweet as we are recovering from all the extra activities in December.

Pictures taken at the Hanukkah Happenings and the Interfaith Mission on Christmas Day are presented

here to show off our special programs. We had over 50 people attend the Hanukkah Happenings and

more than enough people served and helped cleanup after the Christmas Brunch. Many more people

made donations of items and food for both our events and contributed countless hours to accomplish

each and make them both absolutely first class and fabulous. We were able to raise over $500 on the

silent auction. Very few items were left afterwards, and people seemed happy with their purchases.

Well done everyone. Thank you for your participation and help with everything. And thank you for

supporting Congregation Beth Sholom.

In the New Year, a new activity we are hoping to initiate in January is the Supper Club. Gwen

Stubbolo is arranging a dining location in mid-January for everyone who is interested. No reservations,

but a designated location within the restaurant will be arranged with individual checks. I hope we can

check out Vincenzo’s new place on Forrest Avenue. They have just moved and are now open. More

news will come next week.

Choir, Religious School, and the Jewish History Class will be starting again and the schedules are

elsewhere for you. Rabbi Peggy returns for the weekend starting January 10 through 12.

Did you resolve to read each and every bulletin and weekly newsletter to find out what is going on in your shul?

I asked you to in the December bulletin!

Caroline B. Schwartz

TREASURER’S MESSAGE

By mid-January I will be sending out letters for your 2019 contributions for Tax deductions.

Along with this letter will be your current statement for our 2019-20 fiscal year.

Also, to bring you up to date on the Redner's cash register receipt program, we have received a

recent check. Even though it's not a huge amount it all helps. So, keep bringing in those

receipts and put them in the basket in the office window.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

New Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

Our Memorial Wall is the rear wall of the main sanctuary. If you would like to remember a loved one with a

permanent memorial plaque, please contact Steve Schwartz. These take a few weeks to arrive. The cost is

$450.00. If you wish, Steve will arrange with you to conduct an unveiling and pay homage to your relative at a

subsequent Friday evening service. You may also choose to host the oneg in conjunction with the unveiling.

In case you are unaware on the Yahrzeit list within the bulletin, if there is a plaque in memory of a relative,

the board (Bd) and row (R) number has been listed for your convenience. No pl means there is no plaque.

Religious School Schedule.

Religious School will resume on January 7, and continue each Tuesday in January and February

at 4:45 until 6 pm, except February 25. Service attendance should be either January 10 or 11,

especially for Bar Mitzvah students.

Please let me know if you are new to the area and have young children. The VP for Education

and I will be better able to determine classes and activities if we know you are interested.

[email protected] or leave a message with the office.

Chesed and Misheberah information

If you hear or have knowledge of anyone who is in need of r’fuah sh’leyma, please contact the office and leave a message. We are trying to do more outreach and can only act when we are aware of the need. Names for the Misheberah list will be placed and read at services for two weeks unless we are notified differently.

Rabbi Peggy de Prophetis’ Schedule Friday evening services begin at 7:00 pm followed by oneg*. Saturday Table Torah service begins

at 9:45 am, followed by kiddush lunch* and class. Sunday service begins at 9:30 am followed by

classes. Rabbi keeps each class independent of previous discussions so that you may join and enjoy

the readings and discussions.
