What is so special to you about camp?: That everyone is seen as equal and that Alfonso is an AMAZING cook! Do you get homesick?: HECK NO!! My mom is always near. What do you do when camp is over?: Stay as close as I can until next year I also attend a workshop program. PS. I love all my fellow campers and counselors but Scott is my favorite! PPS. My mom made me say that last part! Hahaha

Years at Camp: this is my 4th year.

How many sessions do you attend?: As many as they let me but for now 8 weeks.

My favorite camp memory: There isn’t enough paper!!

My favorite camp activity: There is too many to list but being in the pool

and playing ticks on the counselors is high on the list.

What is so special to you about camp?: That everyone is seen as equal and that Alfonso is an AMAZING cook!

Do you get homesick?: HECK NO!! My mom is always near.

What do you do when camp is over?: Stay as close as I can until next year I also attend a workshop program.

PS. I love all my fellow campers and counselors but Scott is my favorite!

We are partnering with polar engraving to sell engraved bricks for this memorial walkway. 4 x 8 bricks will be

$100.00 ($115.00 if you would like a replica mini brick) and can be purchased through the polar engraving camp

website http://www.polarengraving.com/ShadyOaksCamp. 100% of profits will go to support SOC!

By purchasing a brick, you will not only be immortalizing your occasion or

loved one, but also be providing much needed funds to SOC. Bricks may

also be customized to include your business logo or other graphic image

from a catalog of clip art.

Condolences

Hiring

Our Condolences go out to Dave, Tracey, Alex and all the Gehrke family on the passing of Dave's

father Norm Gehrke. Our thoughts and prayers are with Norm's family and friends during this

difficult time.

Shady Oaks Camp in beautiful Homer Glen, IL is currently looking for a live in camp

caretaker to start end of September, possibly sooner. Caretaker must live on camp grounds.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, equipment, vehicle & building maintenance

& repair, grounds keeping, janitorial, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other duties

assigned by Executive Director or Board of Directors.

This is a full time job and requires person to be on call. Applicant should be a self-

motivated, responsible person with basic knowledge of technology (Email, You tube,

internet, etc). Must be in good health and able to perform all duties of job (gutter cleaning,

mowing, lifting, etc). Perfect job for the recently retired or just someone tired of the daily

grind. Benefits include Home with utilities (except internet/Phone), small stipend, and

meals during summer operation. Interested parties should send resume to Scott at

Thank you to Christ Community Church in Lemont for coming out the day before open house to help us get

ready for the big day. You guys were awesome!

A huge thank you to Our Mother of Good Counsel Knights of Columbus Council 15022 for all their hard

work on their 5k fun run and for their extremely generous donation of $2500.00! Also a big thank you to

everyone who came out and made the 5k a huge success!

Thank you to Lorna Jones, Dr. Greg Stone, Larry and Peg Beaudin for their generous donations to Shady

Oaks Camp.

We want to congratulate our SOB raffle prize winners; Jack Bima who won the grand prize, Chris Brady who

won 2nd place and the Cardinal Family who won 3rd. We’d like to extend a gracious thank you to the Cardinal

Family who donated all their winnings back to camp!!! Thank you to Ben Ficke from Signs Unlimited for

making all of our sponsors’ signs for the SOB Run on July 23rd and to everyone who participated in this year’s

14th Annual SOB Run!!! A big thank you to our SOB committee Jan Golden, Mark Laketa, Mary Pisano,

Jenny Searles and Sheila Newcomb for all their hard work in organizing this year’s run. Also a huge thank

Corporate Matching Grant Program Several companies participate in matching grant

programs meaning the amount of money raised by the individual or a group of individuals is matched by your

corporation. .
