This is a murder mystery...

The story begins with Daniel Sempere on his eleventh birthday when his father takes him to choose a volume at the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, an antique bookshop just off the Ramblas. He chooses “The Shadow of the Wind” but soon learns that someone is destroying all of the other copies.................

And so it begins....

“I still remember the day my father took me to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books for the first time. It was the early summer of 1945, and we walked through the streets of Barcelona trapped beneath ashen skies as dawn poured over Rambla de Santa Monica in a wreath of liquid copper.”
