Greetings!
Intense instruction is going on strong at
Sugar Grove as we enter this six week time
frame before ISTEP+ administration begins.
ISTEP+ 2012 will be administered between
the dates of March 3-14 for the Applied
Skills section, and April 30th-May 9th for
Multiple Choice component. The Third
Grade IREAD exam will also take place in
March, from the 19th-21st. Teachers are
in high gear now to insure that our students
are fully prepared to succeed on these
assessments. Because this is such a critical
time of instruction, we ask for your support
to make every effort for our students to be
in class each day. After observing every
classroom this week, I am confident that the
quality of classroom instruction will bring
great results! Thank you as always for your
continual support!
Mrs. Duckworth

If you have not setup an account for our ebook collection, you might want to try it. Go to the corporation homepage, click on “Academics” and then “IPossibilities Project”. Open the Digital eLibrary and follow the directions to setup an account. As with all new things, the first time is a little “scary”, but once you are familiar with the
process you will love it!
BIBLE CLUB—Bible Club will meet every Wednesday morning at 8:00am in the LGI Room. Students have the opportunity to come for a morning of fellowship, study and fun. If you have questions, or would like more
information, please feel free to contact Denise Griffin ([email protected], 418-6597) or Lori Roehling ([email protected], 887-6172).
MARKET DAY—Help support Sugar Grove and keep your freezer full by simply placing your order online at marketday.com—it’s that easy! During our February sale, (taking place now) you can receive a FREE 4-pack of cookie dough cups with your $40 purchase and a FREE 1 lb of Chicken
Gems with your $90 online purchase. Just use promo code FEBBONUS.
Our Frequent Buyer program will be offering a FREE cooler tote (holds up to 24 soda cans) when you buy 3 items. To qualify, make two $40 purchases between February & April, then place a third order of $40 in May to receive a FREE cooler tote at your May sale pick-up.
BOXTOPS & LABELS—The first 9 weeks we have earned $1,178 for our school. Our goal is $3,000 this year, and I think we can reach it! Keep saving those labels!!! Please turn in the box tops and soup labels separately. Extra “points” will be given to those families that label their submissions with the name, classroom number and the number of box tops or soup labels in the
package. We do not need separate envelopes for families with multiple children at the school. Just add the names in the family to the package. If the packages have trimmed labels or box tops, even more extra points will be given, and it will help your child’s classroom get closer to our grand prize. What is that prize? The classroom for grades K-2 and the classroom for grades 3-5 will each get a fabulous POPCORN PARTY, as well as, a bag of candy to share. In addition, any child that turns in a total of 10 box tops and/or soup labels will receive a small prize.
ALL PRO DADS—The next All Pro Dads breakfast is Friday, February 17th in the SGES Cafeteria from 7:45am-8:45am. Doors open at 7:30am and the event starts promptly at 7:45am. Please return your Sign-Up forms by Wednesday, January 18th. If you have questions, please contact Bill Weinberg @ 889-7324 or [email protected] or Kris Griffith at 710-
4791or [email protected]
YEARBOOKS—If you haven’t already ordered your copy of the 2011-2012 Sugar Grove Elementary Yearbook, order forms have been sent home with all students this week. Deadline to send in your order is Friday, February 24th.
NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY: If you and your family are among those who have chosen to use our new ebook library, congratulations and hooray!!
If you check out a book from the elibrary, you will receive an email reminding you that your ebook is soon to be removed from your reading device. This notice does not come from the school library. We have had some confusion by parents who think they are being notified about a hard copy book that their child checked out from the school media center. Ebooks
will automatically return to the ecollection when your checkout time expires. You do not need to do anything. Regular library books will be collected at school during Specials. We will notify you with a notice if your child has an overdue book.
PAPER RETRIEVER RECYCLING—Our paper recycling fund raiser runs all year. Please continue to feed our bin so we can continue to earn money for our programs.
OUR BIN LOVES: OUR BIN DOES NOT LIKE:
Magazines Cardboard
Newspapers Cereal Boxes Catalogs Soda Can Boxes Office Paper Plastic Home Paper Metal Envelopes Paperback Books
Old School Work Workbooks Brochures Receipts
We appreciate your support of our paper recycling fund raising program and hope that you will continue to support us all year long.
EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS

Radio: Television: 93.1 WIBC-FM Channel 4, 6, 8, 13 and Fox 59 102.3 WCBK-FM 97.1 HANK-Fm B105.7 FM The Alert Now System will also be used. Please note that if there is a two-hour delay on a Wednesday,
there will NOT be early release.
ATTENTION ALL 5TH GRADE PARENTS: Get a jump start in preparing your child for 6th grade by getting their immunizations up to date! The Indiana State Department of Health requires the following additional immunizations for all students entering 6th grade:
One meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4). One Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) booster, after 10 years of age. Two doses of varicella vaccine (or a history of chickenpox disease).
We wanted to let you know now so you will have plenty of time to schedule an appointment to update your child’s immunizations with their medical provider. If you are uninsured or your current insurance plan doesn’t pay for immunizations, your child might be eligible to get them at the Johnson County Health Department for a
small fee. Please call the JC Health Department at 346-4368 for more information. After your child receives these immunizations, please send in or fax a copy of their updated immunization record to the school clinic. Please contact your school nurse or clinic assistant if you have any questions.
