About Event and Organizer:
Board of Innovation, Incubation & Linkages of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University [Start-up
and Innovation Policy (SSIP) unit of State Education Department, Government of Maharashtra
in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) ] are going to organize
Annual National Project Competition ―Student Innovation, Start-ups and Ecosystem` during
March 05-07, 2019.
The project competition provides an excellent opportunity to the students to showcase their
talent, research orientation and untapped potential. The goal of this competition is to prepare the
future generation of engineers not only problem solvers but to be innovative leaders and
responsible citizens.
The student deserves recognition of the amount of hard work done for the project. This year SGB
Amravati University Development of Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (AUDiiE)
Centre and Department of Computer Science & Engineering has taken up the responsibility for
hosting project completion at National Level Competition at its campus.
Preamble:
Government of Maharashtra under Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS) has started
various flagship programs to promote innovation and start-up culture across all universities in
Maharashtra. It has developed a comprehensive strategy, Student Start-up and Innovation Policy
(SSIP) at the state level and allocated 200 Crore to achieve its goal. AICTE has many policy
initiatives and program interventions to streamline and strengthen innovation and startup
ecosystem in Higher Educational institutions (HEIs) across India. Among initiatives, setup of
MHRD`s Innovation Cell at AICTE and implementation of programs such as Smart India
Hackathon (SIH), Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) Network, Atal Ranking of Institutions on
Innovation Achievement (ARIIA), introduction of new academic Program on Innovation,
Entrepreneurship and Venture Development, student startup policy to enable students engage in
innovation and startup activities during academic and enabling them to devote more time for
innovation/startup by reducing the burden of classroom credit requirement, making internship
and induction program compulsory etc. are few among many initiatives.
Project enables students and faculty to transform their learning into knowledge, knowledge into
action, action into practice. Technical project competition allows students to practice soft skills
while reinforcing their engineering knowledge. The contest helps students to consolidate their
knowledge and professional skills. They have the opportunity to improve soft skills such as
communication, presentation, teamwork and problem-solving and technical abilities beyond
boundaries. The project contest gives students a lot of knowledge and inspired them to try and
improve academic activities to enhance knowledge and skills, prepare them for industry
readiness. This may results to turn engineering projects into prize winning entries and may
transform project into commercial product. In order to promote and encourage young
entrepreneurs, it is absolutely necessary to inform them about self- employment opportunities
and to convert "job-seekers" into "job-generators". Entrepreneurship,
Innovation session would help to foster entrepreneurial culture among students, how to bridge
the gap between education and industry, establish better l linkages with industries, R&D
institutions, financial institutions and other related organizations engaged in promoting small &
medium enterprises (SMEs).
Objective:
This Annual National Project Competition on "Student Innovation, Start-ups and Ecosystem`
will find participation from researchers and practitioners from across India and abroad who are
working on student innovation and entrepreneurship in academia to share their learning and
present paper/insights. Incubators, Innovation centers, Start-up ecosystem enablers, academia
and allied organizations will also participate to present their efforts and insights. This
competition will host programs like round table, master-class seminars, doctoral colloquium,
policy boot camps, hands-on-workshop and case study presentations related to participants’
projects models. The core idea of this endeavour is to provide platform to academic researchers,
practicing professional and various states engaged in start-up India efforts to share their efforts
and experiences in pre-incubation/student innovation/incubation and start-up support efforts.
Objectives Project Competition:
To stimulate students and researcher to work on exciting project
To understand best practices and demonstration of diverse project, new innovations, etc.
To provide networking opportunity with industries that can help create breakthrough
To relate the functioning of industry while working on project and understand how does industry function? Challenges and opportunities
To understand how to become entrepreneur? And understand challenges in entrepreneurship
To build the capacity to exhibit entrepreneurial behavior for business success
How to start and run new industries and improve on existing ones
How to improve interpersonal competence
Who can participate?
