To Become Certified through SFFMA,Each Phase attending student must….
•Purchase a copy of the “Essentials of Firefighting” 6th Edition from IFSTA as THE primary resource.
•Understand that each Phase, I – V will encompass certain chapters for it’s respective curriculum.
•Complete the Pre‐Course reading assignments and independent studies for each phase
•Complete the post chapter quizzes for each chapter in each phase.
•Successfully complete all 5 phases (I through V) in sequence for proper accountability.
•KNOW THE BOOK FROM COVER TO COVER
•Upon completion of all 5 phases, submit to the SFFMA an application and supporting documentation to take the NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I and or Fire Fighter II Certification Written Exam at an approved and designated test site.
•Complete the required skills (JPR’s) for certification in Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II at a designated and approved test site.
