The “lifestyle blogger” is not a hard species to spot in the wild. He is the one wearing
long-unwashed 12.5
oz denim, carrying a
handmade waxed
canvas backpack and
embarking on a brisk 5
mile hike to the top of
the tallest waterfall in
the State of Oregon in a
Gitman Vintage button
down and polka dot
FairEnds cap.
Nursing a bit of a
hangover and laced up
comfortably in a pair of
Danner Light II’s, this is
exactly how yours truly
embarked on our outing.
Fortunately they had
wisely thought to bring
us out in pairs. Brad (Well
Spent) apparently got the
same wardrobe memo.
After a short stop at the
Vista House over looking
the beautiful Columbia
River, we were on our
way to the trail head.
Located east of Troutdale,
between Corbett and
Dodson, along the Historic
Columbia River Highway,
the hike up Multnomah
Falls provided stark and
stunning contrast to
the downtown environs
around the Ace where
we had spent a few
days kicking around. A
gauntlet of picture taking
tourists to navigate and
some 15 switchbacks to
start off with, our party
quickly found its stride,
gainly hoofing it the 620′
skyward, we “lifestyle
bloggers”, all sweat-
soaked oxford cloth and
swampy denim, content
to just keep pace with the
legit outdoorsmen and
women in the pack.
A huge debt of gratitude
to the wonderful folks at
Danner for showing us
the best of their fair city.
Looking forward to a
return trip.
