Harassment in the workplace.
Bell Work
1. Describe at least 2 examples of sexual harassment you have seen at school (do not include any names)?
2. Comment on the difference between flirting & sexual harassment.
3. On what pages of your student handbook is the section on harassment?
Review textbook page 333 and then
answer the following questions
on your packet.
In the Workplace
1. Quid Pro Quo (this for that)– Supervisor makes unwelcome sexual
advances either stating or implying that the person must submit to keep a job, get a promotion, raise or high grade
2. Hostile Environment– Creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive
work environment• Vulgar statements, pinups (naked), jokes• One time occurrence is enough to file a
complaint
In the Workplace
3. Sexual Favoritism– Rewarding (raises or promotions) only
employees who submit to sexual demands
Clothing• Provocative clothing is inappropriate at
work & school– But…doesn’t give a person the RIGHT to break the
law– “I could tell by the way he/she was dressed, that she
wanted…”
• Investigation– Victims must realize that what they wear & how they
act will most likely be examined by the court or person investigating the complaint
– What impression are you sending?
