    1.0 Introduction

    Severn Trent was formed in 1974 as a regional, state-owned water authority based

    in Birmingham and responsible for water management and supply, and waste water

    treatment and disposal, in the catchment areas of two of Britain's largest rivers, the

    Severn and the Trent. This report highlights the issues of the Severn Trent case study. In

    addition, the report discusses the company profile of Severn Trent and also its strategic

    key intentions. Apart from that, this report emphasizes on the two companies of Severn

    Trent which are Severn Trent Water and Severn Trent Services. The business model for

    both companies also will be illustrated in the report. The SWOT analysis of the company

    2.0 Severn Trent Plc Water Treatment Services Case Study Issues

    Severn Trent Plc Water Treatment Services case study is about Myron Hrycyk,

    the Chief Information Officer of Severn Trent. Myron Hrycyk played a major role in

    designing the new work environment, enabling greater collaboration by removing the

    standard cubicle farm in favor of large, fluid spaces where employees gather to discuss,

    innovate and create. Furthermore, the new work environment offers a healthy mixture

    of open spaces, new work processes and the latest information technologies. Apart

    from the issue of Myron Hrycyk and new work environment, another significant issue of

    the case study is workforce management system. Severn Trent implemented workforce

    management system that improved the handling of customer complaints, improved

    timeliness of repairs and made it more convenient for customers to schedule

    appointments. The newly executed workforce management system provides more

    efficient scheduling of work crews, driving costs down even further. The final issue of

    the case study is the technology platform. The technology platform includes virtual

    desktop environment and mobile phones, which allowed employees to be mobile.

    3.0 Severn Trent Company Profile

    Severn Trent is an environmental services group involved in the supply of water

    and the treatment and disposal of sewage. The Company was established in 1974 as the

    Severn Trent Water Authority, one of the ten water authorities in England formed under

    the Water Act 1973, to supply fresh water and treat sewage for around 8 million people.

    Taking its name from the Severn and the Trent rivers in the UK, Severn Trent Water

    (STW) provides services to 3.7 million households and businesses in Britains Midlands

    and mid-Wales region. The group operates in the US, the UK, the Middle East, Europe,

    North Africa, and Asia. Severn Trent is headquartered in Birmingham, the UK and

    employs about 8,300 people. Severn Trent has two main companies which are Severn

    Trent Water and Severn Trent Services.

    Trent Service has significant key strengths. Among the strengths are Severn Trent Water

    committed to the long term sustainable stewardship of the business, the environment,

    customers and the communities in which the company live and work. Furthermore, the

    company has efficiencies and high standards that help to keep the costs low, generate

    progressive, sustainable returns for the shareholders and good value for money for

    customers. Lastly, the company has a strong management team and a clear business

    Severn Trent Services is a member of the Severn Trent Plc group of companies. Severn

    Trent was formed in 1974 as a regional, state-owned water authority in the UKs Midlands

    region. The company is responsible for water management and supply, and wastewater

    treatment and disposal, in the catchment areas of two of Britain's greatest rivers, the Severn

    and the Trent, from which the company adopted its name.
