Come to Fr. Brendan Rowley’s Ordination! It is a unique and special day in the life of our parish as Deacon Brendan Rowley will be ordained a Priest of Jesus Christ next Saturday, June 8th at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul at 10 AM. This Mass is open to the public. There are two candidates. The fact that there are only two candidates means that there will be plenty of seats available. I urge you with all my heart to come! I am hoping St. Thomas More Parish will be well represented at the ceremony. A few significant moments to look for: - When the candidates are prostrate face down on the floor as a sign of full submission to Christ, while the Litany of the Saints is sung. - The candidates promise obedience to Bishop Tobin and his successors by placing their hands within his. - The candidate’s hands will be anointed with Holy Chrism oil. The candidate wipes his hands with a cloth that he will present to his mother (later on) which will accompany her remains, signifying that she is the mother of a priest. - The candidates will be vested by a priest (I am honored to be vesting Fr. Rowley) for the first time in stole and chasuble in the priestly office. - At the end of Mass, the new priests will bless Bishop Tobin first and then give their “First Blessing” to their parents. I hope and pray you join us. Attending a priesthood ordination is something every Catholic should see once in life. The liturgy teaches and reveals clearly the true nature of Christ’s priesthood. God give our parish more priestly and religious vocations!

Winged Faith “Faith furnishes prayer with
wings, without which it cannot soar into Heaven.”
--St. John Climacus
Sacrament of Confirmation Sunday, June 2nd at 12Noon at St. Thomas
More Church with Bishop Robert Gruss from the Diocese of
Rapid City, South Dakota.
Men’s Bible Study Our parish has a very active group of men, who for more than 16 years, have met each Saturday at 7:30AM in a "round table" format to discuss the Sunday scripture readings. It is very informal and attended by some scholarly and not-so-scholarly folks. It’s rewarding and even some fun. Bring your coffee and come on over to St. Thomas More parish hall!
Second Collection The second collection next weekend is for the Catholic Communications Campaign (CCC). Your gift helps CCC and our diocese to provide television, radio and print materials that spread the message of the Gospel to people from all walks of life, all around the world. There are extra envelopes available at the Church entrances.
Pray the Rosary The rosary is prayed each weekday after the 9:00AM Mass at St Thomas More and for the special intention of peace in the world and on Saturday mornings at 8:30AM before Mass. Please join us.
Prayer Chain Ministry If you know someone who would like extra needed prayers , please call Jean at 783-3403 and express your request. Volunteers are needed for this important ministry. Please call Jean, if you can volunteer.
Bring your chair and join St. Thomas More Parish on Wednesday, June 19th for Praise & Worship on the lawn of Gazebo Park by the sea wall in Narragansett. Live music will be provided by Ryan Tremblay and his band at 7:00PM. Tremblay is a local jazz trained, full-time musician and Christian recording artist. In January 2019, he performed at the World Youth Day in Panama and has just released his 2nd CD “Trust”. The public is welcome to this free event. For more information call the parish at 401-789-7682 or visit www.stthomasmoreri.org.
Thank you!

Truth Matters
Why would anyone be willing to die for that story? Why would anyone accept martyrdom just to make sure no one fiddles with the facts of Jesus’ life? Tradition tells us, in fact, that all but one of the Twelve died as martyrs. These witnesses knew that Jesus’ story is sacred, unique, and powerful--and that we have to get it right. We have to understand that Jesus is God, and that he actually conquered sin for us by dying on a cross. No other story can give us the kind of hope that Jesus’ Good News does. And the story is true. Countless witnesses have died to transmit the saving legacy of Jesus Christ. We have inherited the truth. Every day, we take our place in the story, bringing hope to a needy world.
Please note: This is a moderate hike ~ 2 miles long and it takes 2 hours to climb up and 1 1/2 hours to get down.
