Seven Fields Primary School-Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers I write to you on the last Friday of the academic year and this will be the last newsletter. It is so strange to not be able to meet all pupils face to face to do the normal things we would do. We would celebrate the fantastic attainment, effort and achievements of many pupils. We would give out certificates for good attendance and make a fuss of pupils leaving us. We have been unable to do any of this for obvious reasons. However, I leave this academic year with messages of hope. We have established clear and consistent teaching and behaviour routines, we have introduced a new phonics scheme, new library, new reading scheme and worked tirelessly on the curriculum. Staff have been fantastic in embracing all of this change and have seen the value of putting into practice our shared vision. Pupils at this school deserve to be taught by the best and we are striving to achieve this. We are continually learning from you, our parental community, from our pupils and from each other. Seven Fields really is a learning community and one that I am extremely privileged to lead. When we return in September we will continue our improvement journey together. We will face problems with innovative solutions and encourage your children to be the best they can be. We will help them get back on track to and support them through an appropriately paced recovery curriculum that enables them to be successful both emotionally and academically. I thank you for your continued support for your child’s education, your support for this school and for the work we are doing to become the great school I believe we can be. I wish everyone a restful break. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in September. D Booth

She has worked tirelessly from home during her pregnancy and we wish her well as she embarks on that first step to motherhood. Miss Hargreaves is returning to London to take up a teaching position in the city, she has been a fantastic help to this school and her high standards has enabled her to make a positive contribution to Seven Fields. It is always fantastic to be able to “grow your own” and Seven Fields has been able to grow one of its own teachers. Miss Marchant will be leaving us to take up a teaching position at William Morris school and we know she will apply all the knowledge and skills she has learned at Seven Fields to her new position. Finally, Mrs Kershaw will be retiring from our school this year. She has been a fantastic support not just to the pupils in school but also to the parents outside of school. She has brought her experience to the leadership team and she has the uncanny ability to bring everyone together for the benefit of the same cause. We will miss all of these wonderful colleagues dearly but wish them well on the next phase of their careers and lives. During lockdown, as you will have seen, our staff have been creating lots of different videos to help with home learning. These videos have covered topics such as PE, Art, Science and Cookery as well as our daily English and Maths tasks. We also have a whole channel dedicated to books being read by different members of staff to share our favourite stories. Some of these videos have really taken off, with some being shared by other schools across England and abroad, even reaching as far as Australia and the USA! All of our theme week videos will be available to view on our school website in the coming weeks in case you want to try anything different over the summer holidays. We would love to see what you can come up with over the summer if you use any of these! Mr. Donnelly

Uniform expectations for the new academic year

Throughout the next academic year, we will be looking to raise uniform standards across the school.

Uniform can be a very powerful statement of belonging and identity as an organisation as well as removing the pres-sure of having to have the latest fashion trends.

Your child will be required to wear the following to school each day:

•White polo shirt •School jumper/cardigan with school logo •Grey/black trousers, shorts, skirt •Grey/black/white socks (either ankle or knee length) •Black flat sensible school shoes (not trainers)

Please see the following photos showing how the children will be expected to dress:

The uniform is not gender specific and therefore the children can choose trousers/shorts/skirt alongside a jumper/cardigan according to their wishes.

Children who come to school without wearing the correct uniform will either be provided with a uniform on loan (which then must be returned to the office, washed) or will have to return home to change.

We intend to begin running a second hand uniform shop and would be hugely grateful to any families who have old uniforms which could be returned to the school to benefit other children. Please contact the office if you feel you can help with this. More details of how this will run will be sent in the new academic year as we must take into considera-tion safety guidelines in the current climate.

Please visit our school website to order new uniforms.

All items need to be named and please DO NOT allow your children to wear expensive coats to school that are not named as we are unable to take responsibility for any lost items.

We feel this is an important part of raising standards throughout the school and would like to thank you, in advance, for your support with this. Please encourage your children to adhere to the uniform policy.
