Setup a Virtual Machine for the GateManager

This lesson explains how to setup a virtual machine for the GateManager on a ESXI-Server

Download ESXI Template for Gatemanager

1. Navigate to the URL https://www.sra.hirschmann.com/2. Click on the text "Administrator Package" under Self-Hosted GateManager3. Select a location on your local harddrive to save the zip file

Extract ZIP File

Extract the .ova file to a temporary folder

Create new VM

1. Select menu item "File"2. Click on "Deploy OVF Template"

Deploy OVF Template

1. Browse and select the file "GateManager.ova" 2. Click button "Next"

Create GateManager VM: OVF Details

The OVF Template Details summary shows up1. No changes needed, click button "Next"

Create GateManager VM: Name and Location

1. Enter a unique name for the virtual machine2. Click button "Next"

Create GateManager VM: Harddisk Settings

1. Select the radiobutton "Thin Provision". This will dynamically assign the harddisk space. The GateManager will require up to 32 GB (dynamic)

2. Click button "Next"

Create GateManager VM: Network Assignment

1. Select the correct network: fixed public IP is needed for the GateManager.2. Click button "Next"

Create GateManager VM: Summary

1. Verify settings in summary screen2. Make sure the checkbox is unchecked. Otherwise the VM will automatically boot up allowing

access to the GM via default login.3. Click button "Finish"

Deploying Completed

Click "Close"

Start and Initialize VM

Open Console window1. Start the VM by pressing the play button2. After VM has finished booting press return key Note: Typos can't be corrected! The console uses english layout and numlock is disabled per default.

Configure IP Settings

Type "config"Enter the IP parametersReboot the VM

Preparation: Firewall Settings

Configure the firewall to allow the following ports:3389: Remotedesktop5800: JVNC5900: VNC 11444: Default Uplink (to License Portal)55000 to 59999: Ports for appliances (e.g. Gecko, Windows Client)
