WELCOME NEW TEACHERS!

Seton’s new Latin I-IV teacher, Miss Monica Wilson, is a native of New Jersey and a graduate of Christendom College. She has a BA in History with a focus on the classical period, including ad-vanced courses in Latin reading and translation. She was an active Latin tutor at the college, so she has experience with problems that Latin students face and how to solve them.

Mrs. Pamela Prevoznik, a Seton mother, will be teaching one section of girls’ Religion 8 while also bringing French back to Seton, beginning with French I. Mrs. Prevoznik has a Master’s degree in Moral Theology. She studied French in high school and college (7 years) and tutored French, worked with a French company, and served as translator in other business situations. Last summer she studied in the Alliance Francais in Philadelphia. She also has knowledge of Italian, Hebrew, Latin and Greek.

Mrs. Christan Summers is the wife of Craig Summers, Seton ’90. Since receiving her degree in elementary education from Franciscan University, she has taught for over twenty years, most re-cently at Nativity Catholic School in Burke. She has taught language arts, social studies and religion and was preparing to teach English and Grammar in middle school when she was hired to teach Reading 8 and Grammar 7 and 9 at Seton.

Mrs. Eve Montavon, Seton’s new Guidance Counselor, has experience in elementary, middle, and high school counseling. She earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling at George Mason Uni-versity and a Post Master’s Counseling Certificate, also from GMU. Mrs. Montavon is a full time counselor who will be working with other members of the guidance staff to help students succeed at Seton and beyond.

Mrs. Martha Aveni, longtime Seton mother, has been using her training in art to teach Art Appre-ciation for a year. However, she actually gained her degree from Virginia Tech in Chemistry and worked in the field before homeschooling her six children. She taught them all of their courses, in-cluding math, through Grade 6. This year she will be putting her diverse talents to work in teaching Pre-Algebra (formerly Math B), while continuing in Art Appreciation. Mrs. Aveni also coaches girls’ cross country.

PLEASE SEE THE ADDENDUM to the Sentinel for a protocol if you have a question or issue with a teacher or staff member.
