Transcript of Set Your Mind on Things Above
YOU MUST
SET YOUR
MIND ON
THINGS
ABOVE.
COLOSSIANS 3:1-4
“Were raised with Christ” certainly speaks of
these Christians’ baptism.
“We were buried with Him through baptism into death,
that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory
of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of
life” (Rom 6:4).
You were “buried with Him in baptism, in which you also
were raised with Him through faith in the working of God,
who raised Him from the dead” (Col 2:12).
YOU MUST
SET YOUR
MIND ON
THINGS
ABOVE.
HOW DO YOU SET
YOUR MIND ON
THINGS ABOVE?
You must order your life around God’s throne.
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things
which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand
of God” (v 1).
Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that life is really
about heaven.
Matt 6:19-21.
“Our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for
the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Phil 3:20).
To order your life around God’s throne, do four
things:
One: You need to take a close look at your life and see
whether or not it’s really ordered around God’s throne.
Two: You need to take a close look at Scripture to see
how you can live a heaven-centered life.
Three: You need to remove evil qualities from your life .
Four: You need to add positive qualities to your life.
You must order your thinking around God’s
throne.
“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the
earth” (v 2).
We are told to make heaven a reality in our minds.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind” (Rom 12:2).
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are
noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if
there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate
on these things” (Phil 4:8).
If you want to make heaven a reality in your
thinking, do two things:
One: Take a close look at what you put in your mind.
Two: Fill your mind with good.
Do you need to claim heaven as your home this
morning?
IS HEAVEN REALLY YOUR
HOME?
