with the guidance of an instructor. This class is great for beginners and in-termediates alike. Private: Working one on one with an instructor children will be able to have lessons tailored to their individual needs. Contact the aquatics director to register.
Semi-Private lessons: Children are grouped by age and ability with
a maximum of 3 swimmers per class. Contact the aquatic director to reg-ister.
Parents be your own Lifeguard The Parent Lifeguard course will help parents improve their supervision of their children in an aquatic environment. This two hour training session will focus on basic supervision skills, communication with other adults to ensure constant coverage and simple rescue skills as well as introduce re-suscitation skills and basic first aid. Based on drowning statistics, children drown within reach of adults; adults who misunderstood the real mean-ing of supervising their children around water. Recognizing that parents are placed in a difficult position when expected to monitor their children 100% of the time, this program is designed to stress the importance of constant supervision while providing parents with realistic alterna-tives. This course has a water and classroom component.

MARTIAL ARTS
Judo
Judo, which is translated as the “gentle way”, teaches the principle of flexibility in the application of technique. This is the flexible or efficient use of balance, leverage, and move-ment in the performance of Judo throws and other skills. Skill, technique and timing, rather than the use of brute strength, are the essential ingredients for success in Judo. At our YMCA the Regina Y Judo Club coaches Judo through volunteers. They have a history of producing high perform-ance athletes that compete at a National and International level. All classes are at the Downtown YMCA.
Additional Fees to the Regina Y Judo Club apply, visit www.reginayjudo.com for more information. Participants must register with the Regina Y Judo Club. Participants must also be a member of the YMCA in order to be a part of this program or pay a drop in fee for entry

PHYSICAL LITERACY AT THE YMCA The objective of undertaking a physical literacy directive at the YMCA is to increase the movement vocabulary in our partici-pants. An increased movement vocabulary of an individual is re-lated to a greater chance for success and confidence in a variety of sport and recreational activities. Our goal is to equip partici-pants with a transferable set of skills to participate in sport and recreation for life. Ultimately we want “robust participants” which we consider to be strong, healthy and vigorous, or are able to withstand or overcome adverse conditions. Physical Lit-eracy Classes teach Fundamental Movement Skills through fun games, obstacle courses and coaching from our NCCP trained Leaders. While the Physical Literacy Classes specifically target this area, it is important to note that physical literacy is also seen in many of our youth and child care programs. Our Physical Literacy Classes will cover: Fundamental Human Movements (Run, Jump, Hop...) Fundamental Sport Skills (Throw, Catch, kick...) Fundamental Gymnastics (Balance, Tumbling…) Contact Bridget Heron for More information on the our Physical Literacy Programs Ph: (306) 757-9622 ext. 470 email: [email protected]

YMCA Inclusive Summer Programs are so much more than just fun in the sun. Our camps have a structure and routine of active living and recreation. Campers will enjoy outdoor activities, sports, swimming, and outings into the community, in addition to explora-tions into the creative arts, science, and key concepts of healthy living (physical activity and nutrition).
Inclusive Summer Day Camp Programs
Thanks to our partnership with the Autism Resource Centre (ARC) we are proud to pro-vide campers with an inclusive summer ex-perience in which campers gain new skills, challenge personal limits and have fun. Both our Downtown and Northwest day camps are open to all young people in-cluding those with diverse abilities. All campers participate together in the same programs and social skills education.
This summer, we are continuing with the YMCA Value Bead Program which encour-ages campers to consider the YMCA of Re-gina Core Values of Honesty, Caring, Re-spect, Responsibility, and Inclusiveness and incorporate these values into their daily behaviours and ac-tions. Camp Counselors watch for and encourage these positive behaviours throughout the day, and reward campers daily with Value Beads during a Bead Ceremony.

YMCA Heritage Club
For more than 100 years, community leaders have developed the mission, character and vision of the YMCA of Regina. These
people have seen the importance of building strong kids, strong families, strong communities in a values based environment.
The Vision of these leaders who have gone before us has given us a healthy and thriving YMCA. Our challenge is to build an
even greater legacy in securing YMCA services for generations to come.
The Heritage Club for out YMCA is for people to believe in a strong future and want to ensure our YMCA is here for future gen-
erations though a planned gift. All information sessions are free for members and $20 for non-members. Please register
