Augmented Reality definition Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a real-world

environment whose elements are supplemented by computers. Those technology functions give a new perception of reality. Virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one.

Virtual Reality definition Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software and

presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment.

On a computer, virtual reality is primarily experienced through two of the five senses: sight and sound.

Are guests ready for A/R?  In my point of view the guest may be ready for A/R, because they can have a better image

about the services and the place. It can be really interesting for hospitality and Airbnb, this is avoid the bad surprise, they know

exactly all the product. It can be a better point for the hoteliers, because Aibnb sell the flat of particular, and people can

know exaclty everything about their appartment and it can be a danger. The control gives to the technology is bigger than the human decision’s power. In this sense

Augmented Reality is a perfect alternative to this program. The human mind keeps a total control on his environment and can choose to make it evolve as

he feels. In hospitality industry and tourism peoples are looking for new experiences and escape.

This phenomenon is totally matching with the expectations of the generation Y. It can be an opportunity for the guest to go through the different services of the hotel before to make his selection.

Is it a gimmick or a destination strategy?

It’s a destination strategy. Nowadays, hoteliers have to use the Augmented Reality to stay competitive

and attract new customers. It’s possible to create more and more storytelling, and share new

experiences. It can be the solution to face to Airbnb, and increase loyalty.
