The Supply and Use tables

• Tool for national economic analyses and

planning, and essential in a highly globalized

market

• Provide building blocks for developing:

– Symmetric national input-output table (IOT);

– International SUT and IOT

Project Motivations

• UNSC recommended the adoption of the

2008 SNA in April 2008 to

• capture new developments;

• meet the increasing demands of data user; and

• supports the implementation of the RPES

endorsed by the heads of NSOs

• Yet, only 5 of the 22 economies in the ICP

2011 are 2008 SNA compliant

Page 7: Session 2.1. Project Overview - Asian Development Bank€¦ · Session 2.1. Project Overview MahinthanJoseph Mariasingham Asian Development Bank Project Inception Meeting ADB Headquarters,

Project Motivations

• RETA 6483 produced 18 national SUTs in 2012

• Outputs of the project are considered

pioneering but challenges remain:

• Mostly based on 1993 SNA recommendations

• Reference years vary

(some going as far back as 2005)

• NO SUT updates were produced in most

participating economies since 2013
