![Page 2: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Informal Letters
● In today’s world it is very important to stay connected with people.
● Globalization has made our world smaller and English has emerged as the main language internationally.
![Page 3: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
● In this lesson we are going to talk about an essential part of communicating.
● We are going to take a look at some useful language when we write informal emails or letters.
![Page 4: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
There are three parts when we write an email or letter.
These are the introduction, the body and the conclusion.
![Page 5: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
The Introduction
● In this section we use opening expressions and the reason of our email.
● We can also thank or answer a previous email which we received.
![Page 6: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
![Page 7: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Opening Expressions
How to start an email / letter
How are you?
How have you been?
How’s everything going?
I was glad to hear from you.
I hope things are going well with you these days.
I hope you are doing fine.
Hope you are well.
What’s new?
![Page 8: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Opening Expressions when we answer an email / letter
● Thanks for you email / letter● It was great to hear from you● It was so nice to hear from you.● Sorry for not writing earlier● I hope you and your family are well
![Page 9: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Responding to news
● Sorry to hear about…● Glad to hear that you’re all well● Good luck with …● Hope you feel better soon
![Page 10: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The Reason...
● I am writing because …● The reason I am writing is because …● I wanted to …● I would like to …
![Page 11: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Body
● This is the most important part. Here we talk about the main subject and expand with details about the reason of writing the email.
● If we talk about two different things it is best to write another paragraph.
![Page 12: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
First, I wanted to let you know…”
![Page 13: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Then if you need to ask for something We suggest the following expressions:
![Page 14: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Asking for something
● Can you please…?● Is it ok if you …?● I want to …● Would you mind …?● I was wondering if…
![Page 15: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)

![Page 16: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
PS
PS = Posdata
Example:
● PS lease send me the photos of our last trip
![Page 17: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
![Page 18: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
![Page 19: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
FORMAL LETTERS
![Page 20: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
NOTA
![Page 21: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
ASUNTO
No escribas “Hello”…no estás escribiendo a tu prima.
● Un ejemplo podría ser: “Meeting Magazine Survey 18/10/2014”
![Page 22: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
SALUDOS
FORMAL
● Dear Mrs. Rogers,● Dear Julian Scott,
INFORMAL
● Hi Peter,● Hello Sandra,● James
![Page 23: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
NOTA
Cuando no conoces a quien te diriges puedes escribir:
● Dear Sir or Madam,● To Whom It May Concern ( A quién corresponda)
![Page 24: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
![Page 25: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
![Page 26: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)

INTRODUCTION
● My name is…
![Page 28: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
● I am writing with regard to… (Le escribo con respecto a…)● I am emailing in reference to…(Le envío este email en
referencia a…)● I am contacting you to…(Me pongo en contacto con
usted…)● In reply to your email, I…(En respuesta a su email, yo…)● I am writing in connection with…(Le escribo en relación a…)● I would like… (Me gustaría…)
![Page 29: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
NOTA
● 2. Para empezar un email no uses el Presente Simple para decir “Le escribo este email”, se utiliza el Presente Continuo: “I am writing this email” no “I write this email”.
![Page 30: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
BODY
● Ve al grano (to the point), es decir, escribe frases cortas y concisas.
![Page 31: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
● Evita al máximo el lenguaje abreviado que usas en mensajes de texto y whatsapps: no escribas cosas tipo: BTW, TTYL (By the way, talk to you later).
● No uses emoticons.
![Page 32: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
● We are able to confirm that…(Le podemos confirmar)● We regret to inform you that…(Sentimos informarle que)● Just a note to say… (Solo una nota para decirle)● Please, could you…?... (Por favor, ¿podría…?)● Can I have…?.... (¿Me podría dar…?)● Could you…? …. (¿Podría useted…?)● I would really appreciate if you could… (Estaría muy
agradecido si usted pudiera…)● This is an urgent matter.... (Es un tema urgente)
![Page 33: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
● Voz pasiva:
It was discussed the unconditional surrender of the country
● Voz activa:
We discussed the unconditional surrender of the country
![Page 34: Sesion7](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022032419/55a380941a28ab7f598b4632/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
