Objectives of the project

The overall objective:

Promote volunteering as a source of social energy for the development of the competences and skills of young people through informal learning, multiculturalism and acceptance of diversity.

Specific objectives:

1. Development of competences (communication in a foreign language, mathematical literacy, learn how to learn both interpersonal and civic competence) of young people by applying methods of informal learning through the implementation of volunteer activities of horse therapy2. Development of competences (communication in a foreign language, mathematical literacy, learn how to learn both interpersonal and civic competence) of young people by applying non-formal learning methods through conducting workshops3. Understanding diversity through working with children with disabilities4. Investigate and promote outdoor activities through volunteering

Volunteer activities1. MAINTAINING - volunteers will work on the estate and learn:

Handle with different tools importance of outdoor living communicate in a foreign language

2. WORK WITH CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTS - volunteers will be assistive therapists in therapy with horses and horse guides and will learn:

to properly guide the horse in horse therapy how to assist in therapy depending on the child's diagnosis what are the difficulties in development and how to deal with them build an attitude on diversity importance of outdoor living communicate in a foreign language

3. WORK WITH HORSES - volunteers will work with horses and learn: how to properly run and introduce horses how to properly run horses on the estate how horses work in therapy and why how to properly rattle a horse (clean horse) how to properly maintain and use horse equipment conditioning horses (maintain their physical and mental health) to ride importance of outdoor living communicate in a foreign language

4. PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES - volunteers will learn and directly apply the lessons learned about promotional activities by participating in the regular promotional activities of the association as well as in promoting EVS and will learn:

5. WORKSHOPS - Volunteers will be attending 6 workshops with the aim of developing the four competences listed in the project objectives. Volunteers will learn what these competences are, and how they apply them in everyday life. Because competence is a knowledge, skill and attitude, volunteers will learn specifically:

Communication in a foreign language - the basic level of Croatian language required for everyday communication and a higher level of English language (they will be able to read and write unusual texts in English).

Mathematical literacy - household budget management (equalization of income and expenditures, planning, savings); buying (price comparison, knowledge of units of measurement and measures, value of money); travel and leisure time linking distance and duration of travel; comparison of currencies and prices)

Learning how to learn - to know and understand their own learning methods, the advantages and disadvantages of their own skills and qualifications, be able to independently inform about the available educational and training opportunities, and how different choices lead to different careers in education and training, to be able to think critically about the facility and the purpose of learning, to effectively manage their own learning and career in general

Interdimensional and civic competence - to understand code of behavior and generally accepted behavior promoted in EU societies, be able to communicate constructively in various social situations (tolerance of attitudes and behavior of others, awareness of individual and collective responsibility), be able to resolve conflict in a constructive way (controlling aggressiveness and violence or self-reliance patterns) and be able to separate professional and personal spheres of life and prevent the transfer of professional conflict to a personal domain

6. PERSONAL PROJECT - Volunteers will have time to work on a personal project during the week

All activities will take place continuously throughout the project.Methods: Since we are best taught through learning others, volunteers will initially have instructors who will teach them all, and then they will be instructors who will learn domestic volunteers and thus present and determine learned. The volunteer will be an active subject and will be taught through direct work, presentation, reading and writing.

After completing the project, the volunteers will have 30 new knowledge, skills and attitudes for the purpose of realizing a better private and business life.The volunteers will use a minimum of 500 horse-care therapies for a minimum of 50 children.Volunteers will provide the community with a minimum of 2400 volunteer hours.Volunteers will create a video and brochure to promote the association and the EVS.

We will carry out all of the above activities while we will partner with evaluations and work on a personal volunteer project.

At the end of the project, the volunteers will have 30 new knowledge, skills and attitudes gained through the project activities:

Accommodation description: Volunteers will be accommodated in a rented apartment with a kitchen Food allowance: volunteer will get a money for buying food Local Transport: Volunteers will be provided with a ticket to public transportation ( tram and bus ) Pocket money: 90 € per month Travel cost: max 180 € Closest airport/travel direction Bus Station and Railway Station are in the city center and a volunteer will be greeted. Zagreb has an airport and a volunteer will be greeted. Visa information No visa, only register residence and the HO association will provide it Currency: Croatian kuna ( 7,5 kn = 1 € )

Working time: 30-38 hours per weekFree time: 2 days per week - separately or together - depending on the job requirements and in consultation with the volunteerSchedule: this is in line with the needs of work and needs volunteersNote: The association works 7 days a week so volunteer will work 5 + 2 days a week, regardless of weekends, holidays and public holidays. Volunteer will work in all weather conditions.Holidays: A volunteer at each completed month is entitled to two days holidays (12 months = 24 days of holiday)

Association of people with cerebral palsy and is a non-governmental, non-partisan , non-profit charity established to fulfill citizens' health, social , educational , cultural , environmental and humanitarian goals and beliefs directly related to helping people with cerebral palsy ( especially children and young people ) and indirectly to all people with disabilities and protection of their human rights and freedoms . This year we celebrate 23 years of service.

Main activites: Therapy using horses for children and youth with cerebral palsy Developing volunteer and other programs for children and youth

Target group: 1. users of the association: children and young people with Cerebral Palsy, aged between 4 and 19 years. They come to therapy twice a week. 2. parents of users 3. volunteers - mostly young people aged 15-30, 80% female, different levels of education. Annually in association there are about 250 volunteers, mostly from Croatia, and about 5% of volunteers are forigners. Volunteers clean the stables and paddocks, feed horses, are horse leaders in therapy, the therapist assistants in therapy, do admistritivne jobs, are involved in the organization of all happenings inside and outside the organization (various fairs, promotional activities, ...).Most volunteers are young people between 15 and 30 years, pupils, students and the unemployed. According to the Ministry of Social Policy Krila – terapijsko jahanje is in the top organizations that implement voluntary programs by volunteers on an annual basis as well as by the number of volunteer hours. We have designed and created the systematization of volunteer positions as well as educational and motivational basis for the work of volunteers.

Location: The association is located in Zagreb, Croatian capital. Size is 4 hectares and consists of administrative building, one stables with 6 horses, 2-riding arenas and warehouse. Access by public transport is at the entrance to the estate. Opening hours of the association are seven days a week from 6.30 to 20.00, on all holidays and vacations.
