Serving with Cadence International

MORE KINGDOM WORKERSWe have been praying for more workers to send to the ripe harvest fields and the Lord has answered!

We had a wonderful candidacy last week in which we appointed four couples to Cadence hospitality house ministry. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cadence headquarters, working side-by-side with our team.

We continue to try to improve our candidacy and training week and this time we added a visit to a Cadence hospitality house ministry in Colorado Springs on Friday and additional field training on Saturday.

The appointed missionaries loved the visit Friday evening to the dinner and Bible study and so did Paul and I! What a great reminder for us as to why we do what we do. We all heard stories of how the Lord has impacted the lives of soldiers and spouses through the faithful witness of our missionaries at Ft. Carson. Our appointees said it was great to be able to experience something they talked about all week long.

During the training on Saturday, we were all blessed by a video call with Chaplain Pat Devine and his wife, Tana. We have been friends with them for about 24 years, since our first ministry in Baumholder, Germany. They communicated the mission and vision of the chaplaincy and how Cadence ministries are so important.

Would you pray for these four new couples as they begin their first ministry with Cadence—Ministry of Partnership Development? I will be coaching two of them and my teammate, Cathy, will coach the other two.

THE MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITYIn preparation for our new field training, Paul and I have been reading books and articles on hospitality. We also have been implementing some of the things we have been learning in our neighborhood. Even after 24 years of hospitality house ministry, we are learning new ways to use our home as a powerful tool for the gospel.

As we approach this holiday season, we would like to be intentional with our neighbors. We would like to encourage you to do the same. Two books that we recommend to get your heart primed for ministering to a broken world in the context of your home are The Simplest Way to Change the

The Lord really moved my heart this week with this verse from Philemon 6, “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” I hope you ponder this with me. I have been very convicted!

Please pray for our neighbor, Paul, and that he would accept our offer to have dinner in our home. We would love to know how you are using your home to reach the lost!

WHAT’S NEXT?We have settled into Virginia as we continue to love on my (Stacy’s) mom and begin to serve in small ways in our new church community. Paul has many applications to sort through, people to interview, another candidacy to plan, and schools to visit—his workload is very full. But because of his thoroughness, this candidacy went so well.

Our next candidacy is scheduled for February. Would you pray for the Lord to lead Paul and the interview committee as they process the applicants? We could have up to five couples attending our next candidacy!

Also, would you pray for me (Stacy) as I coach new and veteran missionaries during their Ministry of Partnership Development (MPD)? I need wisdom and discernment to help each couple. Everyone is anxious to get to the field!

YOU!“Your love has given me great joy and encouragement because you, [brothers and sisters], have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”

Philemon 7 sums it up for us. Our hearts are full of joy and encouragement because of your love, your prayers, and your gifts. Thank you, dear brothers and sisters.

We enter this holiday season with a renewed focus on the gospel and the call to follow Christ where He has us right now. May HE bring you great joy and encouragement too. Hearts of saints are refreshed because of you!
