The Desert Studies Center is placed in a unique area of the Mojave Desert, an area that has provided a landscape for dreams to be manifested. Serving different roles in the process of dreams throughout the decades, it is important to illuminate the rich history of the area in order to advance knowledge for future generations.
To enhance the aesthetics and functionality of the site while revealing the historical significance of the site and creating opportunities for learn-
• Create distinct spaces with assigned functions. •Improve the aesthetics of the space through a unified design concept. •Improve existing circulation while also creating new pathways and trails for exploration and learning. •Create linkages between different areas of the site. • Design and enhance sign age to add to a visitors understanding and experience of the site. • Preserve the historical value of the site while enhancing its aesthetics and functionality through design. •Provide areas for further research.

The views from the site offer a breath taking insight into the landscape which has inspired many of the dreams that have been manifested here. Framed by the surrounding topography and the relics of dreams once lived the Desert Studies Center stands as a reminder of what was and what can be created through the continuation of research and knowledge.
Constraints have been determined by each feature's inability to be changed or a severe reluctance to change it.
Constraints include: The two man made lakes; especially Lake Tuendae which is home to the Mojave Tui Chub. The historical buildings and permanet structures. The salt lake bed.

• Hiking Trails: designed to create connections and outdoor recreation while illuminating the views and historical value. • Historical Area: to reveal the historical significance of the site through geological and cultural narratives. • Outdoor Classroom Areas: designed to promote further research and foster educational opportunities.
• Boulevard of Dreams and Historical Buildings: preserved and enhanced to protect the integrity of the dream. • Minimally Designed Trails in the Southern Area of the Site: area will be minimally designed to allow for the natural environment to dictate the experience. • Trails with Nodes for Viewing: designed to frame and reveal the stunning views that the site provides while also creating a place to relax and reflect.
