Letter from Council…..

As we enter this period of transition, we recognize that Pastor Hart’s

relationship as pastor comes to a close, even though many friendships with him

and his family will continue. Members should understand that all contacts for

pastoral services (e.g., baptisms, weddings, funerals) will be made to our interim

pastor until a new pastor is called, at which time these requests will be direct to

that person. If you have any questions about this policy, please speak to the

president and vice-president of the Congregation Council.

$ FINANCIAL UP-DATE $

Through May the 31st of this year, Holy Trinity has received a total of $7,177.00 in

memorial fund donations in memory of Helen Reichl, Olin Webb, Patsy Kincaid, Gloria

Wieand and Ethel

Pluchinsky. The church also received a $2,500.00 bequest from Helen’s estate. The total

of $9,677.00 was recorded as regular,

budgeted income. Adjusting for these “memorial” fund monies, a month-end, May 31,

2016 budget deficit of (-$183.31) results.

All of our bills are paid current including our monthly

commitment to the Synod for benevolence which is next due for July.

As we enter the hot months of Summer, the message at this time of year is always

the same, not to mention simple. Please don’t forget church this summer. Vacations, time

away from home and family events all help to pull us in different directions. If you miss a

Sunday, please remember to make it up financially. Needless to say, the church bills

continue even when we’re on vacation. In addition, our Pastoral vacancy will also be a

challenge on it’s own. See you in church.

Program. If you give blood, you may

designate it as Holy Trinity. Also, if you ever

need blood, tell them you’re a church

member.

At any time, you can give donations to the “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund”. This fund is used to give temporary financial assistance to people of our congregation and community when a sudden need arises. You may send contributions to the church or place them in the offering plate on Sunday mornings. Please mark your checks or envelopes “Pastor’s

Discretionary Fund”.

Yard/Bake Sale News: A great big THANK YOU to all of the

people who helped make this year’s yard/bake sale a great success!

So many people worked many hours and many days setting up and tearing down, the bakers gave us a wonderful selection of delicious treats, and of course we couldn’t have done this without all of the donations.

To date we have made $1,592.75 and there are still pieces out to be sold. We have already passed last year’s total, which is great news!!

Once again, thank you to everyone involved - There is no way we could have done this without all of the team work!

Congratulations to Nick Minnich (son of Rick and Sue) and Karissa McCarthy who were married on June 11 in the Muhlenberg College chapel in Allentown. The couple resides in Washington, D.C.

2016 VBS This year’s VBS will be held July 25-29 from 6:15pm—8:15pm. The theme is Ocean Commotion-Diving into Noah’s flood. During VBS, we will dive deep into the amazing account of Noah and the flood from the book of Genesis. They’ll learn to apply the spiritual lessons from Noah’s life to their own. All children age 3 to grade 6 are invited to loin us for lessons, crafts, games, music and snacks. Please invite your neighbors, friends and relatives to join us. Registration forms are available in the narthex or office. You may register during VBS. We look forward to seeing everyone who joins us for this year’s VBS.

We are so proud of our 3 Youth who wore a variety of Victorian hats at the June 12th Junior Victorian Tea! When other commitments prevented the rest of our youth from participating, Emily Suter, Caleb Staub, and Alex Suter stepped up to the task. These 3 served as table-setters, ticket-takers, hosts, raffle-ticket sellers, servers, BINGO callers, basket runners, and cleanup crew, giving up hours of their time Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. We couldn't be prouder of you Emily, Alex, and Caleb!! In addition to the effort and hours put in by these kids and parents Jill and John Suter and Jenn Staub, HUGE thanks go to Joe Schwindenhammer, who through no fault of his own got sucked into the preparation, execution, and cleanup process; and to Barb Fister and Ruthann Reinsmith, who tirelessly filled and then washed teapots and tidbit trays, and lent a hand wherever it was needed. Without being recruited, Barb and Ruthann volunteered their services...we would have been in the kitchen for additional hours had it not been for their behind-the-scenes efforts. We also want to thank Holy Trinity's Tea Ladies for allowing us to use their beautiful dishes to serve our guests. And what would a tea be without pretty napkins? Thank you, Carol Hartranft for your full-service cloth napkin touch! (And to Sue M. for bailing us out when our guest list exceeded my napkin estimate!)

At the risk of missing someone, I also want to thank the following women who contributed baskets for the raffle and/or baked goods for the Tea: Jenn Staub, Jill Suter, Tanya Schock, Paige Miller, Diane Carfara, Rita Medence, Cheryl Kneiss, Janis Charvala, Barb Fister, Vicki and Steph Chimics, Sue Marakovits, Rena Bond, Robin Wargo, and Ruthann Reinsmith. There's nothing like a lot of baskets and a worthy cause to generate raffle ticket sales!! Finally, heartfelt thanks to Jenn Staub, who was my partner-in-crime for the Tea, calling all of the bakers. and being my absolute moral support with her enthusiasm for this project. Thanks to the commitment and generosity of all of these HT family members, the Youth raised $456, which has been shared equally between the Youth activity account and Numan Orphanage. We received wonderful feedback from our guests, who enjoyed Tea-related word puzzles, Tea-bag toss, Victorian dress-ups, not-so-Victorian BINGO, our 30-plus basket raffle, and delightful homemade desserts. A door-prize was awarded, centerpieces created by our Youth back in February went home with 6 lucky guests, our servers made the difficult choice of 2 out of several tea-outfitted young ladies to receive "best-dressed" prizes, and the 3 boys whose moms no doubt made them attend each received a special gift. Beyond our wildest dreams for our "First Annual" Junior Victorian Tea!!! Oh - and we finally had a photographer from the Catty Press present for this "historic" event!!!!

Parents and youth: watch for upcoming emails and information about our annual Youth road trip to New Windsor, Maryland to deliver the Social Ministry team's school kits, and to volunteer in the SERRV fair trade store and the Brethren Center warehouse. Planning 2 nights this year, with an evening of foot golf (soccer-ball style) and a few hours in historic Gettysburg. I need feedback from parents about which youth are interested and which dates (weekdays in July or August) they are available. (I know, vacations, sports camps and practices...but this is a fun trip as well as an opportunity to serve.)

SCRIP NEWS

The deadline for our next SCRIP order is July 10th. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU: To avoid the

indescribable disappointment of learning that the cards you

need aren't in stock, get your SCRIP order in to Joe by July

10th! The more orders we receive, the quicker we can rebuild

the SCRIP account balance and, in turn, rebuild our card

inventory for your last-minute convenience.

We currently have a large stock of gift cards available for immediate purchase.

Ya gotta shop anyway, so why not use Scrip cards for all your summer purchases,

including cookout & vacation needs. Make each trip to the grocery store, drug

store, gas station, and clothing stores a mini road trip that supports our

Christian Education program, including VBS. IOUs are always welcome! Available

In-stock Scrip cards are available after worship for groceries, gas, prescriptions, fast food

and dining out, coffee, and gift-giving. And don't forget that you can designate cards in your

order or from stock to the Pastor's discretionary use. The "IV" container will remain on

the food table for ongoing "InVisible" contributions of cash, checks, or SCRIP

cards. These "IV" SCRIP purchases are tax deductible.

SOCIAL MINISTRY NEWS

Thank you to everyone who supported the Father's Day collection for Lutheran Congregational Service's disaster relief work. Donation totals will be included in the September Tidings. Dare I say it? Sale prices on school supplies are just around the corner. We will again be collecting school supplies for kits to be delivered to Church World Service. Needed items: spiral notebooks (wide- or college-ruled, 70 to 210 pages), pencils (not sharpened), large erasers, BLUNT scissors, crayons (boxes of 24), rulers (with 30 centimeters), and sharpeners. Watch for the school kit display in August! Don't forget to bring your plastic and paper grocery bags to the basket next to the Food Table in the back of the sanctuary. Along with your donations of non-perishable food, or cash in the "Meant to but forgot" container, the Food Bank uses the bags to share your giving with residents of Catty who are struggling to put meals on the table. Trinity Morning Glories

We are a daytime women’s group here at Holy Trinity. Our focus is on the spiritual and service to others. Along the way, we share food, work, laugh, chat and pray together! Please join us!

Note: Our meetings will always be the 3rd Monday at 10:00 (exception: June’s time will be 11:30).

Our monthly meeting on Monday, June 20, 2016 was held at Cheryl Kneiss’ home; 18 women enjoyed the lovely outdoors. Our “picnic” fare was varied and delicious. BJ Kunkel’s devotions reminded us that our Lord wants us to relax and learn to laugh more freely at ourselves and life. BJ used Thelma and Louise (Cheryl's two cats) as an inspiration for humorous cat stories about why God created cats and cats flying from heaven to answer a little girl's prayers. She even found humor in the bible from the 31st chapter of Proverbs when King Lemuel's mother gave him a list for selecting an appropriate wife. BJ said that our Lord tells us that laughter will lighten our load and lift our hearts into heavenly places! $20 spending money will be given to Brianna Walker who will be attending the Creation event at the end of June, $50 will be donated to the Ethyl Pluchinsky Memorial Fund, and $50 will be used for a local man that Holy Trinity is helping. Sue Marakovits delivered a check for $1,200 to Mary’s Shelter from our Baby Bottle campaign; she also delivered hand knitted baby afghans, baby food supplies and misc. baby items. More details of our

September 17 murder mystery fundraiser, “Charlie’s Angels of Death” were decided. Nancy Miller told us she is collecting empty prescription pill bottles and pillowcases for the “Through these Hands” charity. The pillowcases are made into dresses for girls in developing countries. A Penny game presented by Janis Charvala was enjoyed as was “interesting facts” from around the world that Linda Heiberger shared.

Mary’s Shelter Baby Bottle Campaign

The recent Baby Bottle Campaign which benefited Mary’s Shelter in Bethlehem has netted $1,200.
