Rics NM2 Report No.12-004E Page [11/29]*2 [Folder Partitioning] *3 [Reference Drive]

[Folder Partitioning]* After an archive is created, the “RicsNM2_Archive” folder is created immediately under the drive

which was set. Folders are created with the set “Partition Size” at the “Saved date.”

Partition Size:The folders are partitioned in the partition size selected, and the archive data is saved. The folder names are determined using a number that starts with 1. Numbers ranging from 1 to 999999 are 6-digit numbers padded with zeros (example: 000001). For number 1000000 and up, folders are created with the corresponding numbers.

Saved date:The archive data is saved after partitioning the folders by saved date. The format used for the date is “yyyyMMdd.”

[Reference Drive]Set here is the drive to search the study data next if the study data cannot be found at the archive destination when referencing archived studies. When, for instance, referencing from a CD or DVD media, set the drive for that media here. * It may take some time to search depending on the specified location because all the folders of the

reference drive need to be searched.

“Japanese: O English: X” is displayed on the selected line for the settings used as the archive destination.

The screen can be displayed by selecting [Archive Settings Information] from the Study menu on the Rics GUI screen.

[Search and reference illustration]* The method used differs depending on the selected settings. Note:In the case of a past study which has been archived, the study comparison screen

cannot be opened when referencing the drive. Note:Drive referencing assumes that the usage frequency of data is low. (Studies can be

compared by copying them to an HDD and referencing them externally.)Note:Take care not to disconnect the connection with the memory device with the studies until

the referenced studies are closed. For instance, if studies on an external HDD were referenced, then the connection with the HDD was disconnected, and after this operations were performed on the past study screen which was referenced and opened, an error will result, as the images cannot be found.

For a detailed description of the search screen, check the operating instructions and the next section 6.2 “Integrating the past study search screens.”

Rics NM2 Report No.12-004E Page [13/29]6.2 Integrating the past study search screensA change has been made to the search function so that it is capable of performing combined searches using a function which directly inputs the search conditions. Previously, the search screen was opened using the search button on the past list screen, but this has now been eliminated. Instead, the search conditions can be input on the Study Logs screen to perform combined searches with the new function.

[Study Logs]The Study Logs is used to specify the search conditions from the studies conducted in the past and select the studies to be referenced. The selected studies are displayed on the past study screen. * For details of how to use the list, refer to the operating instructions.

[Types of past studies] (* Details are presented in the previous section “Archiving function added.”)• Temporarily saved data which was saved inside the control software• Data saved as archives outside the control software (archiving function added starting with V4.0)• Past study files which were saved externally in designated folders

Note:Exposure is prohibited while the Study Logs screen is displayed. Note:During log-in, the last search conditions are retained, but the previous display items and

their positions, sort items and screen display positions are not carried over. Note:The maximum number of search results which can be displayed is 10,000. When there

are more than 10,000 hits, an error icon is displayed, and only the first 10,000 results will be displayed.

Note:The past study screen for study comparisons is also changed in the same way.

*1 Files saved temporarily as before “C:\Program Files\Canon\RicsNM2\Database\Images

*2 Files saved in the designated folders prior to V3.51 These files can also be browsed if the studies were conducted using V4.0 or later and the data is stored in the archives.

Note:Under no circumstances must the names of any folders included in the path along which temporarily saved data has been saved be changed using Windows Explorer or some other external tool. If they are changed, it will no longer be possible to display the images in past studies or re-transfer them.

Note:Under no circumstances must the names of any folders and of image data files included in the path along which data temporarily saved in archives has been saved be changed using Windows Explorer or some other external tool. Furthermore, in terms of operation, it is assumed that the data will be written onto CDs or DVDs so after it has been written, it can be moved to another HDD or deleted. However, the XML files and image files in study folders cannot be moved to folders with different folder names.

Note:Studies saved in archives and existing outside Rics cannot be transferred irrespective of whether they have been moved.

Rics NM2 Report No.12-004E Page [15/29]6.3 Operation of transfer button on past study screen improvedThis improvement ensures that a study continues to be displayed even when the transfer button on the past study screen has been clicked. Previously, when the transfer button on the past study screen was clicked, what happened was that the study was closed and it was not possible to move and transfer to the next study. However, the added function enables the study concerned to remain displayed and “study forward feeding” to be used even when the button is clicked.

The study concerned remains displayed even when its transfer has been executed.

“Study forward feeding” can be used.

Rics NM2 Report No.12-004E Page [16/29]6.4 Disease name search function addedUsing a function which registers disease names, it has now become possible to search for disease names on the Study Logs screen. Previously, only patient names, IDs, etc. could be searched, and it was not possible to compare images by means of case searches. However, the added function makes it possible to register the names of diseases in the database while studies are in progress and later to search other patients with the same diseases.

6.4.1 Inputting the names of the diseases[Input method]On the Rics GUI screen, input the disease name. Alternatively, the disease name can be selected on the disease name list which has been registered ahead of time, and added.

①Input the name directly into the disease name field. * A multiple number of names can be input, with

each name separated from the next by a comma.

* Up to 64 characters can be input for one study.

②A disease name can be called from the disease name list which has been registered ahead of time, and added.

(1) Click the [+] button.

(2) When a disease name is selected from the list, and the [Add] button is clicked, the name is added.

* A multiple number of disease names can be added, and each name is automatically separated from the next using commas. However, the number of characters which can be input for one study is limited to 64.

correspond to the specified character sets are included in the 64 characters, an error will be displayed and the selected operation cannot be executed. With new studies, this happens when the study is closed, and with past studies, it happens when an operation by which data is saved is performed (when the close or transfer button is clicked, when the study forward or backward feed button is clicked or when the study comparison button is clicked).

6.4.2 Registering the names of diseasesThe names of diseases can be registered on the disease name list which is used when disease names are input. It is possible to register up to 300 disease names on the disease name list. [Registration method 1] Steps taken to register the disease names on the list from the Settings Menu screen

Input the Disease Name in the disease name field. When the [Add] button is clicked, the name is registered at the bottom of the disease name list. • Up to 16 characters per disease name• Disease names containing commas, the “\” symbol, control characters or characters which do not

correspond to the specified character sets cannot be registered. Characters which are not supported by the ANSI character code are not supported.

• Neither is it possible to register disease names with spaces or disease names which are identical to ones which are already registered.

* If there are spaces at the beginning and/or end of a disease name, the name will be registered with these spaces deleted.

The sequence of the names can be changed using the [ ▲ ] and [ ▼ ] buttons.

Rics NM2 Report No.12-004E Page [23/29]6.6 Transfer image trimming functionTrimming settings have been added to the Storage settings. Previously, the transfer images were relatively small in size because of the large mask area and the retinal images could not be viewed in big enough size. However, the mask area has now been reduced, and the retina size has been increased in relative terms in the transfer images, making it possible for larger images to be viewed on the PC that receives and displays them.[Storage registration and editing]The “Create a New Storage” screen is opened when the create button is clicked on the Storage settings screen. The storage information and image compression method can now be set or edited.

* When a check mark has been placed in “Trimming images”, the type of trimming can be selected. • Default

The images are trimmed based on the mask size regardless of the aspect ratio. • 1:1 aspect ratio

After trimming the images based on the mask size, spaces are added so that the aspect ratio of the images is set to 1:1.

• 4:3 aspect ratioAfter trimming the images based on the mask size, spaces are added so that the aspect ratio of the images is set to 4:3.

Note:The trimming function provides trimming only for images with black masks: It does not provide trimming for x2 images or image capture.

Note:In the case of annotations on the images, the font size must be adjusted.

Select “Storage” under DICOM from the Settings Menu.
