FOOD PANTRY:
The next PDCOC Food Pantry will be
THURSDAY, August 11, 2016;
5:30-6:30pm. All volunteers
are asked to RSVP to your
text or email notifications.
KIDS FOR KIDS:
Our children participate in
contributing funds for children
in the Philippines to purchase
goats. The goats provide milk
and a way for the children in
the Philippines to financially
help themselves and their families.
They’ve collected over $29k since 2012!
MEALS MINISTRY:
Lori’s co-workers would like to
help her with meals for the next
2 chemo treatments; therefore we can take a break to allow her co-
workers to be a blessing to her. In the meantime, we can concentrate
on prayers for a minimal surgery with a small amount of radia-
tion. After the surgery, more meals will be needed so look for the
sign-up sheet in the kitchen for the Meals Ministry supporting The
Hodulik Family. Meals are only needed on MON, WED, & FRI; de-
livered by 5:30pm. Their address is: 48103 Newport Bridge Pl., In-
dio; 760-775-4174

YOUTH SPOTLIGHT: Cash Gervin loves God, his family, church family, school
and sports. His favorite things about church are learning
about God, singing, and hanging out with his friends.
Cash says church keeps him out of trouble, because it
teaches him to listen, sometimes. He loves his sisters
Chloe and Calista, he is very helpful and protective of
them. Cash’s favorite subject is Math and he just finished
the 1st Grade at The Palm Desert Learning Tree - with
Academic Honors! Cash absolutely loves to compete in
his two favorite sports: basketball (Dad) and baseball
(Poppa); but if asked, he’d tell you his favorite is
basketball. This summer Cash
was selected to play on the
Palm Desert All-Star Traveling Baseball Team for the 8
and under division. Cash just finished the Aztec Basketball
Camp where he helped his team win the championship for
his age bracket. We are very proud of Cash and his
accomplishments, but we are more thrilled to see who he is
becoming as a young man.
CONGRATULATIONS: Diana Garcia would like to announce the birth of Aniyah
Gonzales; born on 6/23/16 at 1:22am (Japan time), 7lbs. &
8oz.. Grandma Diana thanks everyone for all their prayers!

We are so excited!! The Shubin’s are here from Oklahoma; Andrew, Ra-
chel (our daughter), Nicholas, Caleb and 8 month old Helene. They moved to
Oklahoma about two years ago. Until that time all of our children and grandchil-
dren lived within a mile of our home. They moved to Oklahoma and dared to have
a baby when they live so far away.
I guess it is payback. Debbie’s family is from Arkansas/Oklahoma, my
family is from So Cal, and we had all our children in Oregon. We tried to visit our
parents often, but it isn’t the same as living a few miles away. Then again, Helene
is payback to Rachel. She already shows signs of headstrong stubbornness to
match Rachel’s.
God is good in giving “payback”. There are many instances in the Bible of
God ironically paying back someone for the evil they have done. But God is also
very good at giving “payback” to those who do well. Jesus said in Matthew 10: 38Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of
me. 39Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake
will find it.
Give life – payback: get life. Keep life – payback: lose life.
So… 7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he
sows. 8Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction;
whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not
become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do
not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, es-
pecially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6
Just Pondering
Paul’s Ponders
feliz. Yo soy tu hermano Gilberto.........
