INCIDENT : Water truck was heading north on a snow packed single lane road through a blind corner, when an approaching southbound pickup started sliding, striking the water truck on the driver’s side. 3. LEARNINGS: The icy condition of the road was underestimated and the drivers of both vehicles were driving too fast for conditions. If the vehicles had been chained up or in four-wheel drive (pick-up) the incident could have been prevented. The use of overhead vehicle flags could have alerted the other driver that that there was a vehicle approaching. IN YOUR OPERATION: Are chain requirements clear? Are your employees putting vehicles in 4WD before they encounter a situation? Or to get out of a situation?

Water truck was heading north on a snow packed single lane road through a blind corner, when an approaching southbound pickup started sliding, striking the water truck on the driver’s side.
