Dishing with Julia Childseries premiereFRI Apr 3 | 10pJulia Child was quirky – unpolished for television and irresistibly whimsical. More than 50 years after its debut, The French Chef remains important television. In this new series, some of today’s most popular celebrity chefs and food experts share personal insights and engage in lighthearted conversations as they screen – and delight in – some of Julia Child’s most beloved episodes. Featured celebrities include Martha Stewart, Jacques Pépin, Vivian Howard, Marcus Samuelsson, José Andrés, Eric Ripert and Rick Bayless.
Masterpiece: World on Fireseries premiereSUN Apr 5 | 9pThis new series from Masterpiece is an emotionally gripping World War II drama that follows the intertwining fates of ordinary people in fi ve countries as they grapple with the eff ects of the war on their everyday lives. Staring Helen Hunt, Sean Bean and Jonah Hauer-King, the fi rst season of this series is set during the fi rst year of the war.
The Gene: An Intimate Historyseries premiereTUE Apr 7 | 8pThis two-part series vividly brings to life the story of today’s revolution in medical science through tales of patients and doctors at the forefront of the search for genetic treatments. Presented by Ken Burns, the series also explores the compelling history of the discoveries that made modern treatments possible – and considers the ethical challenges raised by the ability to edit DNA with precision.
Independent Lens: BedlamMON Apr 13 | 10pHaunted by the death of a mentally ill sister, psychiatrist Ken Rosenberg takes on the role of fi lmmaker to examine a national health crisis. Bedlam follows the poignant stories of people grappling with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other chronic psychiatric conditions. Impossible to mask when untreated, their symptoms shove them into the path of police offi cers, ER doctors and nurses, lawyers and prison guards. Rosenberg takes us inside Los Angeles County’s overwhelmed psych ER, a nearby jail warehousing thousands of psychiatric patients, and the homes – and homeless encampments – of people suff ering from severe mental illness.

Nature: Cuba’s Wild Revolution WED Apr 1 | 8p
Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, and one-fi fth of its territory is protected habitat for spectacular
wildlife found nowhere else on the planet. This fi lm explores the jumping crocodiles of the Zapata swamp;
the bee hummingbird, the world’s tiniest bird; the island’s spectacular crab migrations; and much more. Decades of
American embargoes and minimal development have left Cuba virtually unchanged in 50 years. But as international
relations thaw, what will become of this island paradise? Photo courtesy of Crossing the Line Productions Ltd.

Broken PlacesMON Apr 6 | 10pWhy are some children permanently damaged by early adversity while others are able to thrive? To answer this question, fi lmmaker Roger Weisberg dug into his extensive fi lm archive to update some of the stories of the abused and neglected children he fi lmed decades ago. Viewers are given a unique time-lapse perspective on how the trauma that these children experienced shaped their lives as adults. The fi lm interweaves these narratives with commentary from experts in neurobiology and child development to illuminate the impact of childhood adversity as well as the factors that can foster resilience.
Remarkable Rabbits WED Apr 8 | 8p
There are more than a hundred kinds of rabbits and hares, both domestic and wild. Their territories stretch from the Rocky Mountains to the deserts of Arizona, from downtown Chicago to Canada’s frozen boreal forest. Yet these underdogs are often overlooked and rarely get the respect they deserve – due, in part, to their adorable appearance and storybook depictions.
Explore how surprising and resilient rabbits and hares can be as they face the incredible challenges in the wild, from habitat loss to climate change.

The Man Who Tried to Feed the WorldTUE Apr 21 | 8pIn 1966, drought and an exploding population confronted India with the imminent threat of a severe famine. In search of a lasting solution, India turned to Norman Borlaug, an unassuming plant breeder from Iowa. Borlaug would not only solve India’s famine problem, but would go on to lead a
“Green Revolution” of worldwide agriculture programs estimated to have saved a billion lives – and earn the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize for his work.

Secrets of the Dead: Building Notre Dame TUE Apr 28 | 8pBuilt more than 800 years ago, the cathedral of Notre Dame is an iconic monument of Gothic architecture. This program was fi lmed before the tragic 2019 fi re, but it provides insight into how the great church managed to stay standing – as well as why the world reacted with an outpouring of sadness and support for it. Featuring historians, scientists, architects and engineers,
“Building Notre Dame” explores how this masterpiece of human ingenuity, with its soaring arches and Rose Window, was created.
Inside the Vatican TUE Apr 28 | 9pFilmed over the course of Pope Francis’ fi fth year at the helm, this two-hour program gives viewers a deeply human insight into the workings of the Catholic Church during the preparations for Easter celebrations at St. Peter’s Basilica. From Pope Francis himself to his head of security, the nuns who serve the homeless, the choristers of the Sistine Chapel, the papal gardener, the chief of the diplomatic corps and many others, the program off ers a unique glimpse into the lives of those who live and work in this independent city-state.
