1) Place eggs in vinegar

2) Measure the weight of egg

3) Measure the size of the egg using a measuring tape and string

PURPOSE

4) Place 1 egg in water and the other in corn syrup

5) Weigh and measure the eggs again

PURPOSE

Corn syrup egg will weigh more

corm syrup egg will look sticky

Corm syrup egg will look brown

Corn syrup egg will get bigger

HYPOTHESIS

Before

Weigh- 64.9gSize- 16.0 cm

After

Weigh- 35.3gSize- 13 cm

Water Weigh- 65.8gSize- 16.5 cm

Weigh- 83.3gSize- 18 cm

OBSERVATION1) bubbles coming out of egg

2) after 24hrs white foam is on top of the water

3) the skin is gone and feels soft, jelly like

4) eggs got larger from sitting in water for 2 days

5) water egg got larger, syrup egg got smaller

OBSERVATIONS

Egg after vinegar

Egg after syrup (24hrs)

Egg after water (24hrs)

The water moved from the higher concentration (egg) to the lower concentration (syrup)

That’s why the corn syrup egg got smaller (this is osmosis)

CONCLUSION

The water moved from the higher concentration (water) to the lower concentration (egg)

That’s why the water egg got bigger (this is osmosis)

CONCLUSION

Weight- wrong, because I thought it would weigh more

Size- wrong, because I thought it would get bigger

Looks- right, because I thought it would look sticky and brown

HYPOTHESIS (CORN SYRUP EGG)

Weight- wrong, because I thought it would weigh more

Size- wrong, because I thought it would stay the same size

Looks- right, I thought it would look squishy and soft
