An empiric is one who relies solely on observation and experiment; in the 17th century this connoted charlatanism and quackery, especially in medicine.

Matthews 17:14And when they were to come into the multitude, there came

To Him a certain man kneeling down to him and saying,

‘Lord, have mercy on my son for he hath a dumb spirit and

is a lunatic and sore vexed for he suddenly crieth out and oftentimes he falleth into the fire and oft into the water and wherever he taketh him. He teareth him and he foameth and gnasheth with his teeth and pineth away. Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son for he is mine only child and I brought him to thy disciples and they could not cure him”.

Then Jesus answered and said to his disciple’s “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I shall be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me”

And Jesus rebuked the devil, who tareth the boy and he fell down on the ground and wallowed foaming and he asked his father” How long is it since this came into him?”

And he said," Of a child, Lord help us, have compassion on us”

Matthews 17:14 Jesus said unto him,” If thou canst believe, all things are

possible to him that believeth”.

And straight away the father of the child cried out and said

with tears ,” I believe, help thou mine unbelief.”

When Jesus saw that the people came running together , he rebuked the foul spirit saying unto him” Thou dumb and deaf spirit I charge thee come out of him” and he was dead in so much that many said” he is dead’.

But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up and he arose and the spirit departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour.

Then came the disciples to Jesus apart and said,” Why could we not cast him out.”

And Jesus said unto them” Because of your unbelief, for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a gram of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place and it shall remove and nothing shall be impossible unto you Howbeit this kind goeth not but by prayer and fasting”.

And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God.

Matthews 17:14Then there arose reasoning among them, which of them

should be the greatest.

And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took the

child and set him by him.

And said unto them,’ Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me and whosover shall receive me receiveth him that sent me. For that is least among you all, the same shall be great.”

We know that 2000 years ago this child was cured of Epilepsy yet the disease is still prevalent and plagues many till date. The story that follows is the penultimate story of that child who has been coming again and again into this world for more than two millenniums and this very child attains the ultimate title –Savior.

As for this disease called divine, surely it has its nature and causes as have other diseases. It arises like them from things that enter and leave the body such as cold, the sun and the wind, things ever changing and never at rest. Such things are divine or not as you will for the distinction matters not and there is no need to make such division anywhere in nature, for all are alike divine or all are alike natural. All have their causes which can be found those who seek them.

Current myths about Epilepsy

Germany November 1973: Annelise Michel, Warzburg University student under treatment for epilepsy for 4 years was held to be possessed by the parish priest of Klingenberg where she lived with her parents. A ritual Exorcism took place after permission of the regional Bishop. After several months of exorcism Annelise died of malnutrition and dehydration, the priests denied her medical assistance. The priests Reverends Arnold Renz and reverend Erst Alt were found guilty and given prison sentences. In May 1978 German Bishop’s conference ruled that in future no exorcism should be permitted unless doctor was present!

East Africa January 1998: A five year old boy epileptic was ritually beaten early morning on the charge that he was possessed. He was

Rescued when one such beating was on and was later put into school. The tormentors were warned and school and church educated on the need to educate all about epilepsy.

India: Epileptics are treated at par with the insane as per some Indian Laws. Most parents ignore sending their children to school or do not get proper treatment for their children. Epileptics suffer social ostracism in Indian Society.


What the story is about

The story traces the story of Epilepsy through the times of Hippocrates, through a young boy of the 21st century, who grows up and finds the cure for the epilepsy. He mysteriously interacts with some famous persons in history such as Julius Caesar, Joan of Arc, Sir Issac Newton, Vincent van Gogh and Doctor Kotnis.
