While visiting Australia and NewZealand, I noticed the people

driving their cars on the left side of thestreet (not on the right side, as in myneighborhood). I also noticed that theydrink tea at 4 p.m. (whereas we’re moreinterested in our morning coffee), and they

speak “King’s English” (with such a lovelyaccent). These customs reminded me thatthese two commonwealths began ascolonies and, even though they were aworld away from England and their King atthat time, today it is clear that the kingdomof England had come to Australia and NewZealand those many years ago, and it hadcome to stay.

I thought of Christ’s words in theLord’s Prayer, “Thy Kingdom come… on

When we face hard times—when people say hatefulthings about us, when we lose our homes or jobs,when we encounter rifts in our families, when

doctors call with dire diagnoses, when relationshipssuffer—it’s easy to lose our hope in tomorrow.

Nevertheless, St. Paul teaches us—over and over again—tocount our suffering joy and rejoice when we face difficulty.And if anyone could speak from authority on finding hope bytrusting God in the midst of trials, it is Paul. From personalexperience, Paul tells us that “…suffering producesperseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope”(Romans 5:4).

Paul was beaten, thrown into jail, and run out of town. Howhas your week compared to his? Yet, he trusted God that this

was all evidence thathe was attemptinggreat things for HisLord and Savior.

Often it is said,“If you are walkingwith God, your life

will be easy.” However, Paul says just the opposite. So, why shouldany of us follow Christ? Why should any of us want to make HimLord of our lives?

Because it is not about life being easy—it is about you and megrowing through good times and bad—leaving positivelegacies—helping others—bearing fruit for His Kingdom. We willall experience our share of suffering, but when we do, we can stillhave hope knowing that it is evidence that God has entrusted uswith noble dreams and divine callings.

So rejoice as you trust God to help yougrow from suffering into perseverance, fromperseverance into character, and fromcharacter into hope—while living forChrist and Christ alone!

I’m collecting trophies! I hope you are. The trophies I’m trying to win are calledthe “More Than Conquerors” trophies. Here are some examples of how you canwin one:• If you captured an enemy, you are a conqueror; if you turn your enemy into a

friend, you are more than a conqueror! • If you pull the weeds out of your backyard, you are a conqueror; when you

replace the weeds with fruit trees, you are more than a conqueror! • When you fight to overcome a hurt and do not strike back in anger at the one

who hurt you, you are a conqueror; when you become so strong that troubles do notupset and defeat you, you are a conqueror; when you turn the hurt and troubles intoproductive and fruitful actions, you are more than a conqueror!

In Romans 12, Paul tells us “to overcome evil with good.” When we cooperatewith God, we can turn our troubles into triumphs. That always wins a “More Than Conqueror” trophy.

Cooperate with God. Here are three simple ways you can turn your troubles into triumphs:

1. Give God thanks - when you face a problem.

2. Give God time - to turn your problem into a triumph.

3. Give God trust - every waking moment!

Wouldn’t it be that we would strive to be morelike the King? Wouldn’t it mean that we wouldmodel our attitudesand our behaviorsafter the King? Andisn’t the King of kingsalso the Prince ofpeace, the MightyCounselor, the verydefinition of love?

So, it is my dreamthat our ministry willbuild the Kingdom of heaven here on earth (andon our Crystal Cathedral campus and through theweekly-televised Hour of Power) by being love,by giving a helping hand, by bringing hope to thehopeless. My dream is that we will be HopeCenter OC (Orange County) at the CrystalCathedral campus and through the Hour of Power.

Hope Center OC, a place where people canfind a hot meal, be helped to find a job, findguidance, find recovery from substance abuse, andfind new life in Jesus. These are just a few facetsof the big vision. And we have taken the first stepstoward making this dream a reality.

In America, we rebelled against the king andmonarchy in general. Because of this bit of
