CORNHOLE LEAGUE NEWS
Another Cornhole League is about to begin. The 8-week season will be on Wednesdays OR Thursdays at 6:30 and we will play in the back hall. The first night of play will be October 12 or 13. The cost for the season is $40, with all of the money returning to the players based on your wins.
The information and sign-up meeting is Thursday, October 6 at 6:30. We’ll also be playing mini tournaments for anyone who just wants to try it out! You ABSOLUTELY MUST either show up to the meeting or contact Marsha/Ted Warrington at 419-704-3703 or Dick Schuller at 419-885-9016 by October 6 to be included in the league. Please indicate which night you prefer or if either night is fine
Since we need to know an exact number of players to create the schedules, you may NOT wait until the first night of play to sign up. Due to space limitations we can only hold up to 32 players, so previous league members will have the first opportunity to join and to choose their night of play. If you can’t commit to the league but still want to play, consider being a sub, or just show up around 8 p.m. any Wed. or Thurs. for our post-league tournaments!

MOOSE YOUTH AWARENESS PROGRAM
Can teenagers persuade younger children to make positive choices in life? “YES!” say the
teens and adults who work together in the Moose Youth Awareness Program. The Sylvania
Moose would like interested High School Students, (sophomore through seniors) to partici-
pate in this program for a chance to win several scholarships.
The Youth Awareness Program is for high school students who can combine academic skills
and leadership qualities to target 4-9 year-old’s with a positive message through ‘Kids Talks.’
Previous presentations have been given on a variety of topics, such as: Drug/Alcohol
Abuse, Manners, Smoking, Fire Safety, Bullying, Peer Pressure, Washing Hands/Hygiene, Nutri-
tion, Internet Safety, ‘Stranger Danger’, Dental Health, and Stay in School just to name a
few. Other topics of importance to these youngsters can be used as well.
On Saturday, October 1, 2016, the Ohio State Moose Association will hold its Student Con-
gress at the Kenton Moose Family Center #428. At this Congress students will learn to give
talks to the targeted age groups listed above, talks can then be scheduled through
schools, 4- H groups or any other civic groups. Once the presentations are completed and
turned into Ohio State Moose Association by February 28, 2017, a student(s) will be chosen
to attend the 2017 International Student Congress to be held in Kenosha, Wisconsin starting
April 28 – May 1, 2017. Five students at the International Student Congress will be chosen for
scholarships: 1st Place - $12,000, 2nd - $8,000, 3rd - $5,000, 4th - $3,000, 5th - $2,000. The win-
ner at the State level receives a $500 scholarship.
If any Moose Members children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc., would like to partici-
pate is this wonderful program, please pick up an application at the Lodge and return it to
the Women of the Moose by September 23, 2016.
This program is at no cost to the student or student’s family. All funding is provided by the
Moose Legion. Shelly Mills, Senior Regent
