Nobles, Ladies and Family of El Jebel Shrine:
Wow! When the past potentate’s say “your year will go
by fast” they weren’t kidding. The last 8 months have re-
ally flown by. Lady Lisa and I have had a whirl wind ex-
perience participating with all the units. Fun seems to be
the common thread.
The Wheat Ridge Parade was very well attended by all
the units and Shrine family. On a sad note “Long John” is
having a transmission issue and might be down for the
rest of the season. On a good note “Boris” is up and run-
ning along with Phred to help get those parade people
hauled around! Thank you to all those who helped get
Boris back up and running!
El Jebel had a “Short Form” ceremonial this last month
and welcomed in 2 new Nobles! Welcome aboard Bill
O’Brien and Chris Heiskell! Have fun and get involved!
The Ceremonial Divan cast did a great job under the guid-
ance of Director Ron Birely. Please keep in mind that on
November 16th at the Consistory we will be having a full
Ceremonial (Details and Flyer to be out soon). Get those
Petitions in and let’s keep the good times rolling ahead!
El Jebel was well attended this year at CSSA and I’m
proud to say once again “Award Winning”. The Dune
Buggy Patrol and Motor Corps came home with trophy’s
this year! Someone please help Steve Hubbard to steer his
Fire Truck! (see photo pg 3( Seems he can’t, do to the big
grin he has on his face from winning a trophy! Congratu-
lations!
Coming up we have “Call Out” Arvada parade on Sept.
7th. Join in on the fun that is Parading!
Plan on attending the Stated meeting on Sept. 9th (see no-
tice). There will be a “State of El Jebel” report (You have
questions? We have answers!). There is also a Ladies pro-
gram that night! Jewelry! Need I say more ladies? Didn’t
think so.
El Jebel has another opportunity to sell DVD’s at a Con-
cert at “Fiddlers Green”(details to follow as we don’t have
exact dates and time yet). A “Media blast” will go out as
soon as we have the correct information and “Help” will
be needed once again to raise money for the Hospitals.
The Ladies Luncheon is on Sept. 28th at Highlands
Lodge. See the flyer on page 6 in this month’s Red Fez.
This year’s planning team has really pulled out all the
stops for our ladies.
The Oktoberfest is on Oct. 5th at the Consistory and
promises to be yet another “Great time”. These Joint
events really do build relationships that bridge our
“Brotherhood”. Please plan to attend.
The “Walk of Love” in Salt Lake City is on Sept. 21st.
El Jebel has a lot of its nobility attending and dare I say
“Leading by Example”. This is going the extra mile for
the Hospitals!
There is still time to help out with Raffle Ticket sales!
Remember this is our big fundraiser for the year and we
really do need your support on this. Chief Rabban Joe
Kent and his second to none crew are working very hard
to make this Raffle a success! We can always use more
help Selling / Buying or organizing. Please see dates for
selling listed in the FEZ. Many hands make light work
and we could really use some help. Less than 60 days
left!
We have a new Leasing company at the Shrine building.
They are very enthusiastic and have been very good to
deal with on our end (Thank you Building Trustees for
your hard work). Please keep in mind if you know of
companies who may be interested, have them contact the
office right away 303-455-3470. We need to maintain and
keep all our spaces rented and with your help we will suc-
ceed.
Thanks for “ALL” you do!

AUTUMN IS ALMOST HERE
ARE YOU READY AND PREPARED?
YOUR TEMPLE IS
Well our summer is over and we had a very pro-
ductive one for El Jebel. Think back on the events,
parties, parades, picnics, and gatherings we all en-
joyed and then never forget the fun that you had as
an active member of the El Jebel Shriners. There
were far too many to recall here, but I am sure you
that participated has the fondness of memories.
Yet, in just a few days from receiving this article,
our monthly meetings will begin again. I hope to see
you all on Monday, 9 September for our Stated
Meeting starting with dinner at 6:00 pm and the
meeting at 7:00 pm. Fun and camaraderie will con-
tinue for all members and their families. Come and
hear what is planned for the rest of the year, what
your Board-of-Directors and Divan have been doing
throughout their summer meetings preparing for a
fantastic El Jebel future. You may now be thinking
well what are the things planned, what will be our El
Jebel future? Come to our meeting, come to our
event, come to the Temple and you will find out. To
enjoy what our Temple has to offer you, your spouse
and family need to need to be active and come to the
monthly meetings to learn about the events planned
for you. Hear and learn the details about meetings,
parades, parties, Unit and Club activities and the as-
sociated myriad of social and personal lifetime con-
tacts you will make, have made that will last a life-
time.
We have two new Shriners who have joined our
Temple in August, Nobles Christopher (Chris)
Heiskell and William (Bill) O’Brien. When you
come the September dinner and meeting, look for
Chris and Bill and welcome them. They will be the
ones you see with big smiles on their faces. Each
Unit/Club president and members should tell them
about your particular niche and what they will have-
fun doing in your group. Let’s never forget that the
Units and Clubs are the mainstay of fun in the
Shrine. These brothers want to be active. Let them
know they are needed and welcome to join you.
As you have heard so many times, remember
to adopt the mantra, Be an Active Member. You and
your family can participate in all the El Jebel events
and have fun. We are a community of brothers and
families ready, willing and able to share our lives
with all Shriners everywhere.
See you on the 9th!

Sandblasters of El Jebel
By Claude Akridge
Sixteen Sandblasters were present at our lunch and
business meeting on the 31st of July at the Golden Corral
Restaurant located at W. Hampden Ave. and South Santa
Fe Dr. The meeting was called to order promptly at 12:00
PM by Vice-President Larry Bangert, President Carl and
Margaret were out of town on family business and not
able to attend. PP Ron Cosens led us in the pledge to our
flag
and Larry led the prayer.
Golf Manager Jim Teagarden gave a report on the past
and future golf outings and was pleased at the past turn
out of the members and also pleased with the number
signed up for the Thorn Creek outing. One outing for
Sept will be at Broken T Golf Course on the 5th. Please
contact Jim at [email protected] if you are
interested in playing and details.
Larry gave a report on the golf trip and train ride the
Sandblasters and guests went on down in southern Colo-
rado. Many of the members that went on the trip told of
the great time that they had and that President Carl and
Margaret did a great job planning it. All said they would
like to have it again next year.
There were some health problems in the club last
month. Secretary/ Treasurer Dan Kamunen told us about
the heart condition he experienced and the successful
procedure he went through and all is fine with Big Dan
now. I talked to him yesterday and he had just finished
playing golf. Jerry Davis had some ear problem and had
treatment and is recovering nicely. Also, Jerry Human
had a bout with pneumonia and has recovered. Happy all
is well again!!!
Vice-President Larry says the Sandblaster table at the
Raffle for this year has not been completed yet and the
Appreciation party is scheduled for the last week in Sep-
tember and the members will be notified. Larry, you did
a fine job running the meeting in President Carl’s absence
and will make a good President next year.
Please know you are always welcome to visit us for
lunch and meeting the last Wednesday of the month at
the Golden Corral.
El Mejdel Temple No. 47

PQ Carole Bolduc
Here it is September already! Football season is ap-
proaching as well as the holidays, not to mention back to
routine for El Mejdel.
Tuesday, September 3rd will be our first Session back
since the summer break, and everyone seems to be look-
ing forward to getting back into the routine.
We are hoping to initiate several new members at our
Supreme Queen’s Visit in October and hope to see our
new princesses becoming involved in our Units and Tem-
ple activities.
September 19th-22nd will find our Queen Brenda and
several members of our Temple, along with many Nobles
of El Jebel, in Salt Lake City, UT for the Walk for Love
in support of the Shriners Hospitals for Children®. This is
always such a fun time, particularly with the children par-
ticipating in a lot of the activities. It’s always such a lift to
see all of the good things that are happening at that hospi-
tal.

Pipe Band
By Kent Burns
Summer is just about over. For the Band, summer will
be over after our annual pilgrimage to Estes Park the
weekend after Labor Day. We have been going to the
Longs Peak Scottish/Irish Highland Festival for way over
40 years. We have been the “duty band” for most of that
time. “Duty band” is a nice way of saying we do every-
thing but compete. The various clans that participate in
the games march in the parade on Saturday, parade
around the field at the opening ceremonies (the so-called
“massed bands” at noon on both Saturday and Sunday),
and show up for the closing ceremonies (or “last post”
that closes the games on both days). Other than that,
they are pretty much relegated to either a pair of large
tents and/or several smaller ones off in a corner wherein
they display their clan tartans, insignia, histories, etc. At
one time they were fairly busy with people interested in
the different clans, with questions and even inquiries
about joining. But as the games have gradually gotten
away from attracting those kinds of spectators, the ones
manning these tents get lonely and bored. So we are
tasked with breaking the monotony by playing through
their tents and bringing them a bit of the games they
would otherwise miss.
We also play for the Sunday “kirkin’ o’ the tartan” – a
blessing of the tartans that has a basis in Scottish history,
although it is an American institution started by Rev. Pe-
ter Marshall, a Scot who came to America to enter semi-
nary and who later became chaplain of the US Senate.
He is the subject of the book, and later Oscar-nominated
movie, both entitled A Man Called Peter. When the Eng-
lish defeated Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Scots at the
Battle of Culloden (near Inverness) in April 1746 (which
basically ended the Jacobite uprising), they forbade wear-
ing of the tartan, playing the pipes, and carrying weap-
ons, among other things. Thereafter in Scotland, the
Highlanders would go to church and the officiant would
bless scraps of tartan usually secreted in the clothing of
the congregation. Rev. Marshall was also pastor of the
New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington,
DC and, as such, started the “kirkin’,” or blessing, of the
tartan (and hence, clans) here in the states. Members of
the congregation would bring swatches of tartan, fly
plaids, or anything with the clan’s distinguishing colors
and design denoting the tartan and the clan. These were
presented to Rev. Marshall and he would bless these
pieces of fabric and, through them, the clans.
While time and tide has taken its toll on the Band such
that we will not be marching in the parade, we will none-
theless be busy the entire weekend. It is, after all, Estes
and, as such, represents all that is Celtic here in Colora-
do. It is the largest games between Pleasanton, CA and
Grandfather Mountain, GA and has a history that runs
deep for all kilt-wearers in Colorado. If you have noth-
ing better to do, come on up and enjoy the beautiful Col-
orado scenery and hear the skirl of the pipes.
In November, the Band will be playing for Queen An-
nette Stewart at Highlands Temple for her High Tea; in
concert with the Rocky Mountain Brassworks at the
Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Pkwy, Lake-
wood, CO on Sunday, 10 November at 1900; and at the
Veterans Day stated meeting on 11 November. (We will
be presenting a little bit of history at this as well.) So if
anyone is interested in all this fun and performance, and
at the same time enjoying the camaraderie of our Band,
we are looking for a few good men. So come on down
almost any Thursday evening at the Shrine at 1900 (or
7:00pm for the uninitiated) for the fun!

Doesn’t seem possible that summer is coming to an end.
The parade season is all but gone we have the Arvada
parade on September 7 please watch for the information
that comes out in a Fez .
The black camel has taken one of ours, Kenny Viberg
our parade captain of the Vintage Iron Patrol passed.
Please keep Jeannie and the family in your prayers. Ken-
ny has been very active in our club; his quick wit and fun-
ny stories kept everyone laughing. He will be missed very
much.
Vivian and myself will be hosting the September lunch-
eon, I will be contacting members for the time and place.
Get out and sell those sportsmen's raffle tickets we need
to meet our goal for the operation fund. This is a very
important fund raiser for the our Shrine. You’re the key!

DUNE BUGGY PATROL
By Jay Bobick
The August Dune Buggy Patrol Meeting was
unique as the usual opening dinner was held at Hacienda
Colorado Restaurant, but the meeting was held at Sensory
Park. Our President, Ron Williamson, is great at creating
new ideas; new venues and we do all appreciate his inge-
nuity displayed throughout the year. Ten members at-
tended the meeting.
President Ron reported on a potential new mem-
ber who is interested in purchasing a buggy; but he is not
a Mason. The decision was made to not sell him a buggy
until he becomes a Mason and Shriner, joining the El Jeb-
el Temple. The objective is to have all our buggies re-
main keep the in the Dune Buggy Patrol. It was suggest-
ed that we should tell prospects we only have one buggy
for sale. This will encourage prospects to buy it now and
become a member before it is gone. Speaking of new
members also brought up a recommendation that was
approved to help Dune Buggy prospects become mem-
bers by paying for their first Dune Buggy social event.
Those who attended the Buffalo Bill Parade in
Golden, the Wheat Ridge Parade and picnic following at
Highlands including all those that helped with the picnic
had a great time not only with the Dune Buggy folks but
with the El Jebel Shriners as a whole. The Christmas in
July at Gold Hill Inn was another great time even if there
was a torrential rainstorm. Why? Because the rain
stopped before we had finished a wonderful dinner and
social event planned by our President and First Lady
Robyn.
A question arose as to if Imperial keeps track of
calls to their phone number concerning what prompted
them to call and if such could be tied to the materials
passed out by the ladies at parades. The possibility of
such is highly suspect but a simple check with the Impe-
rial staff could provide a useful answer. Another thought
was regarding speeding up the process for a prospect to
become a Mason and ultimately a Shriner. This is diffi-
cult, as each Blue Lodge must follow the Colorado Grand
Lodge rules for Masonic membership as well as follow-
ing Shrine Law. This is an age-old issue, new members.
Everyone is a member of all membership committees in
every Masonic Body.
On Sunday, 18 August the Dune Buggy Picnic
was held at Don and Connie’s cabin above Evergreen.
All attending enjoyed brats, hamburgers, Pepsi, Diet
Coke, and of course beer. This was a potluck no one
should have missed. A beautiful day, an adventurous
drive, a marvelous setting and most of all a great time
with friends and family. It looks like this will be
an annual event. Let’s hope so.
Congratulations to all who attended the CSSA.
The Dune Buggy patrol won two trophies, a first and sec-
ond place. A big thanks to Don Weiser for his dogged
pursuit in assuring the El Jebel Dune Buggy Patrol is for-
ever an integral part of the annual CSSA competitions
and parades.
Buggiers (is that a word?) don’t forget our up-
coming events to which we all should be a part:
The Arvada Parade is Saturday, 7 September.
This is a call-out parade and we will wear our flag shirts.
Those with tow vehicles are welcome to leave them at
Williamson’s prior to the parade. Following the parade
Williamson’s will be hosting a potluck picnic at their
house at 8638 West 84th Circle, Arvada.
Sportsman’s Raffle, 26 October will be at Doug-
las County Event Center. Remember to sign up to sell
tickets at Cabelas and Bass Pro. Contact Perry Mittler, 2nd
Ceremonial Master to sign up. Don’t forget to include
the sale of DB Raffle tickets for Edward’s Meats.
Next meeting will be Wednesday, 11 September
at Malones Club House Grill, 14455 64th Ave., Arvada,
social, 5:30 pm, dinner, 6:00 pm, meeting, 7:00 pm.

T-Nobles’
By Bobby Juchem
Greetings Nobles and Ladies, grab your favorite cool
beverage sit back and regale yourselves with the tremen-
dous feats of the T-Nobles of El Jebel. Let us begin with
July. On July 4th the T-Nobles drove out to Brush for one
of our favorite parades. Nobles Chris ‘El Presidente’
Weymouth and Jodi Dreher represented the T-Nobles
with their families. The parade was great and wet as al-
ways, on the docket for the next year, armaments in the
form of squirt guns so we can defend ourselves and beat
the heat. Unfortunately, on the trip home Murphy’s Law
was in full effect as Noble Jodi had a catastrophic trailer
fail. However, he was able to limp it into Keenesburg.
Due to the fact that it was the 4th of July Holiday, finding
a flatbed trailer was near impossible. So in quiet despera-
tion your T-Nobles asked the community for assistance
and found a woman who was willing to let the trailer sit
on her property overnight. Her name was Angel and she
was just that. She had three girls and a baby boy and the
look on the kids faces when they pulled the Fire Truck
out of the trailer was priceless. Noble Jodi took two of
the girls for a ride around their backyard and it absolutely
made their day.
On July 13th, the T-Nobles supported the Potentate’s
Summer ‘Cruisin with the Potentate’ Party. Nobles Don
Myers and Chris Weymouth and Lady Karen were in at-
tendance. Noble Chris detailed his Fire Truck to be put
on display with the rest of the Hot Rods.
On July 27th, the T-Nobles were in full array at the Buf-
falo Bill Day’s Parade in Golden. Nobles Chris Wey-
mouth, Don Myers and Ryan Puckett were in the parade
after getting a quick detail of their mighty steeds from
Noble Bobby Juchem. Noble Byron Walker rode in Long
John with Karen Myers and Judy Weymouth, while No-
bles Victor Walker and Paul Stoltman walked in the pa-
rade with Golden City Lodge #1. After the parade the T-
Nobles helped run their Child ID Booth at the Festival
and Noble Paul Stoltman ran the dunk tank. T-Noble
President Chris ‘Nolan Ryan’ Weymouth was able to
dunk Noble Paul with what looked to be a change up, not
too bad for a torn rotator cuff. Word on the street is that
the Colorado Rockies are scouting him as a relief pitcher,
but he keeps saying he doesn’t have the time.
Finally, on August 10th, the T-Nobles were at the Wheat
Ridge Parade. Nobles Chris Weymouth, Bobby Juchem
and Ryan Puckett were in attendance. The parade went
beautifully and we had a wonderful lunch hosted by the
Highland Lodge after the event.
As the parade season is coming to a close, we ask you:
are you getting enough from your Shrine experience? If
not, I offer you this: In life there are many endeavors
where your name on the roll book is just enough to feel
included, but in the Shrine that is not the case. ‘We Ride
so the Children Can Walk’, this is the mantra you see
engraved on the side of our theme trailer every parade.
Your T-Nobles are men and women of different tempera-
ments, talents and convictions, united by the common
purpose of reducing the suffering of others. We are
bound by the ties of friendship and love, if that sounds
good to you, come and join us for a parade. We promise,
you will not regret it.

August meeting of the August Meeting of the
Northeast Colorado Shrine Club Outpost #1 Colorado Consistory
NORTHEAST Colorado Shrine Club
by Jerry Wardrip, Secretary
We started the Morning gathering, like always, with a
great breakfast at Sonnies Overland Trail Café at the
junction of I76 and Colorado Highway 63. Our president,
Noble Cecil Souders called the meeting to order and
offered the prayer followed by the pledge. The minutes
of our previous meeting were reviewed and approved as
printed.
We discussed the 2019 Sportsman Raffle and Jerry let it
be known that he had books of tickets available, and we
needed to get some sold. We always seem to have people

We entered our Masonic float in the Logan County Fair
Parade this year and all had a grand time. The kids and
some of our new Fellow Craft walked and passed out
candy and also American Flags. This year’s theme was
“Stars and Stripes and Summer Nights”
We received a request for The Broomfield DeMolay for
assistance with their “Care Packages for our Military”
project. After some discussion we decided that we would
help out, as we did not have a DeMolay Chapter.
We liked the article in the Red Fez in the “Didja Know”
section. Thanks to Noble Kent Burns for his article
construction skills.
Well as the summer seems to be a slow time and we seem
to have covered all pending business it was now time to
move on to the rest of our day. The President Cecil
Souers closed the meeting at about 7:15 AM with peace
and harmony prevailing.
You all have a standing invitation to come out and meet
with us the second Monday of each month here at the
Overland Trail Café at the Atwood interchange at 6:00
A.M. That is the Sinclair Station at Exit 115 off
I-76. Good food and Great Fellowship.

Englewood Shrine Club
by Don Phelps
The Englewood Shrine Club met at the Eckley’s on Au-
gust 11th for a Crab and Shrimp Boil. They dumped it all
over the table. There were fourteen of us attending. It
was enjoyed by all but one. I was sick and couldn't eat
it. The most important thing that happened was we took
in three new members. The new members are Potentate
Bobby Marner, Chief Rabban Joe Kent, and Chief Aide
Steve Hubbard. Who will be next? If you are interested,
let me know (Don Phelps 303-471-2481). It cost $20 to
join and that pays your dues for 2019.

Dragoman
By Ed Rendon
Friends and Nobles you may not know that the Drago-
man unit is a social unit with friends who enjoy the ex-
changing of conversational thoughts over drinks and din-
ner. It’s quite the social event, so you might want to con-
sider becoming a member. The President just wants to
relate that our unit is alive and going strong with over 35
members at our last gathering. We have just had a social
at the President’s home of Noble Greg Rindone. If you
were not there, you missed a great meal prepared by the
two famous chefs, Illustrious Sir Dennis Proctor and No-
ble Greg Rindone. Each meal was prepared to the exact
taste of each person there. To start off, there were appe-
tizers of different types, and beverages to your liking pre-
pared by a world renowned bartender. Then the steaks
were cooked exactly as ordered and came with a baked
potato, and salad, followed by a delicious pie with a gen-
erous scoop of ice cream. Don’t miss the next Dragoman
social – join now!
Caring Ladies
By Jeanne Thompson
The Caring Ladies of El Jebel invite all widows of
Shriners and Master Masons to join us for lunch on the
second Wednesday of each month. We gather at 11:30 at
the Chalet Restaurant, 7340 West 3rd Ave., Wheat
Ridge. Our meetings are short, but the friendship and
camaraderie are long and sincere. While we are united in
a common sadness, there is joy and laughter around the
table. If you are, or know of a widow who would like to
join us, please call Kay Bell at 303-430-9001 for a reser-
vation. However, if you decide at the last minute to
come, just come on down and we will be glad to pull up
another chair for you. Our members come from all over
the Metropolitan area, so if you need a ride, we can find
someone to bring you.
The Caring Ladies order from the menu. The food is
good and the service is excellent. Our Miss Kitty bank
travels around the table collecting a bit of change from
each of us, and that money is donated to the Shrine Hos-
pital’s Travel Fund to help both patients and their fami-
lies as they are treated at our excellent hospitals. Our
dues are $10.00 per year, so it is not expensive to join
us. Please come and you will be happy you did, and we
will be more than happy to welcome you.

MEMORIUM TO “MOM”
Shirley Mae “MOM” Dietrick was once again
joined with the love of her life Duward Dietrick on Au-
gust 10, 2019 at 12.47 PM.
Shirley was joined by eight of her friends and
adopted family at Steamboat Springs where she was dis-
tributed at the same spot where Duward was laid to rest.
Her neighbors Frank and Roseland Oschmann,
along with Jim and Annette Stewart and several others
represented her Shrine and Masonic family as she joined
Duward forever.
Of significant note was once Shirley’s remains
were distributed two snow white cranes rose up from the
grass and circled the place of their interment. I would like
to believe that it was Duward’s and Shirley’s spirits re-
joined in their love for one another.
