Honoring Our HeroesOur world changed drastically on Sept. 11, 2001. That
day, many Americans lost loved ones, security and, perhaps, a little hope. But from the wreckage of
buildings and lives, we found the courage to uniteand to share our strength with our neighbors. WhileSeptember will always be a month of remembrance,
it’s also a time to give thanks for the men and womenwho risked their lives to help others, for the neighborswho were there in our time of need and for ourselves
for having the heart to hope once again.
Wit & Wisdom“A hero is someone who has given his or her life
to something bigger than oneself.”—Joseph Campbell

All Hail theAmpersand
A relatively newdesignation, NationalAmpersand Day(Sept. 8) wasfounded in 2015 bydesigner andtypographer ChazDeSimone. Theampersand (&) is ajoining of the letters“e” and “t,” which inLatin is “et” or“and.” NationalPunctuation Day isalso this month, onSept. 24, but thecomma has to sharethe spotlight with thesemicolon andellipsis, while theampersand gets aday all to itself!
