Todd & Sargent Safety Beliefs

Todd & Sargent values our people above all else, and keeping them safe is our number one priority. Because of this, safety plays a major part in everything we do, and we are continually striving to instill a “Safety First” mindset within all of our employees. One of the many ways we do this is through our company-wide commitment to our Safety Beliefs, which are listed below.

1. I believe that our MOST important goal is for each of us to go home safe every night.

1. I believe that it is possible to complete every one of our projects with ZERO injuries.

1. I believe that safety is EVERYONE’S responsibility, including MINE.

1. I believe in safety not because I have to, but because it’s the RIGHT thing to do.

1. I believe that safe practices should be REINFORCED and that unsafe practices should be CORRECTED and the worker EDUCATED.

1. I believe that safety is IMPORTANT ENOUGH that if someone endangers themselves or others by violating our safety policies, we cannot keep them around—regardless of how good their work might be.

1. I will THINK SAFETY at all times and use the necessary time, resources, and techniques to work safely in ALL situations.

1. I believe that safety can ALWAYS be improved; I will CONTINUALLY strive to find safer ways to work and will communicate these ways to a supervisor.

1. I will INFORM someone immediately if they are not working safely and will suggest ways for them to do the work SAFELY.

1. I will immediately report any unsafe conditions or behaviors to a supervisor so they can be CORRECTED.

These beliefs are discussed in detail with each of our new employees on their first day, before they begin work. Each employee is asked to sign the jobsite Safety Beliefs poster as a commitment to living out these beliefs every single day, and this commitment serves as a personal connection to the importance of safety for everyone on site.

STAR OF THE WEST MILLING COMPANY

Star of the West Milling Company is operating their new flour mill in Willard, Ohio at near capacity.

Their first flour was run in early July, and it is now providing high quality flour for the great Star of the West products.

Buhler Inc. milling equipment is housed in the seven story mill. The main tower is 34’ wide x 230’ long x 116’ high. Production capability of this mill is one million pounds of flour per day produced from soft red winter wheat. Wheat storage of 1.2 million bushels comprises a 4-pack of concrete silos and three steel bins.

Star of the West has continued to grow during the past five decades. Expanding from one mill to today’s five flour mills in four different states, daily flour milling capacity now stands at 25,500 cwt. This makes Star of the West the twelfth largest miller in the United States.

Crew members finishing the project include Superintendent Scott Tessum; General Foremen James Stewart and Ricardo Roque Jr.; Foremen Rick Dorrel, Luis Andrade-Daza, and Santiago Gomez-Fernandez; and Leadman Irving Gomez.

Todd & Sargent is very happy to have been the General Contractor for this new facility.
