Transcript of September 2015 Message from the President Brookfield...
Message from the President Greetings Brookfield Chamber of Commerce Members. I hope you and your businesses are doing well and that you’ve had some time to relax and enjoy the great summer we’ve had. It’d hard to believe it’s winding down and kids are head-ing back to school.
It’s been a wonderful summer for the Farmers Market as it continues to evolve and never fails to impress. The small changes to the venue have had a big impact on the success of the market, and the crowds have been a good indication that the people like what they see. There’s still plenty of time to get out and get involved in the market as chamber members are always welcome to participate. The market will continue on Saturdays from 8:00 until 1:00 through mid-October. I hope to see you there soon.
The 60 to Win promotion is in full swing and ticket sales are going well. This is the Brookfield chamber's biggest fundrais-er, and it enables us to help support local projects like the new sculpture at the taxi stand near the train station and the planters throughout town, as well as other local causes, and it provides the funding needed to run the various events we sponsor or co-sponsor with the village throughout the year. It's a fun promotion and chances of winning are very good. We only sell 1,100 tickets at $20 each, and drawings are held weekly for 10 weeks. There are six prizes awarded each week, with one $500 winner and five $100 winners. Tickets are available from a variety of chamber members throughout the community, and we hope that all chamber members will at least buy a ticket or two, and we’d really ap-preciate f you could also sell a few additional to family and friends. Please feel free to email or call the chamber office if you need help locating tickets and thanks in advance for your support! Finally, we have our Art Fair coming up on Saturday Septem-ber 26th, and Abby has been working hard to make it better than ever. I hope the weather cooperates and a lot of chamber members turn out to support the event as well as the annual Duck Race to raise funds for Beautify Brookfield and the Beautification committee. Have a fabulous fall!! Tom Milani President Brookfield Chamber of Commerce

Sixty dancers from Impact Dance Studio's Performance Company in LaGrange & Countryside were very busy earlier this summer preparing for the West Coast Dance Explosion National Dance Competition which was held at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas this past July. The dancers spent a full week competing against some of the best studios in the nation. They also participated in dance classes with master teachers. The Impact dancers received high scores in the entire competition, including numerous first place awards in their age divisions. One highlight of the week was being awarded second place in the Dance Genre Challenge Cup. Eleven of the nation’s top studios participated in this separate competition to be named the top studio. Each studio competed in multiple genres of dance: jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, ballet. All eleven studios in the competition were top studios in the nation. Receiving second place is a huge honor for Impact Dance Studio and its danc-ers.
Impact's Mini & Junior performance company performed “Big Noise” which was choreographed by Logan Lipton. This dance received the highest score for a Junior performance and also won the PINNACLE CUP at the final gala, for the highest scoring performance of the entire national competition, scoring higher than 400+ dances from around the nation. "The dancers worked so hard and the sense of accomplishment they received was astounding. There were tears of joy from the dancers, parents, and teachers alike. They worked as a team and won as a team!" noted Impact Dance Studio's director, Diane Fotino. Erin Wienke (Riverside) was named West Coast Dance Explosion's Junior Elite Dancer of the Year Champion. Lauren Mochizuki (Western Springs) was among the top FIVE National Senior Elite Dancers. Among the top TEN elite dancers in their age division were Maisy Dunne (LaGrange) in the teen division, Lily Panos (Western Springs), Elise Allen (Western Springs) in the junior division, and Sophie Daker (Burr Ridge) in the mini division.
Congratulations to all the Impact dancers, we are so proud of each and every one of you!
