Autumn Edition 1 September 2015
Welcome to our new family members
Although we are well and truly up and running and have finished the
2nd week of the new term, we would still like to extend a very warm
welcome back to you and say a very big welcome to our new Snow-
drop starters and our new PP1 girls and their families. We also wel-
come our new P3 and English teacher Mrs Pont, the owner of a ra-
ther beautiful green bicycle you may have seen in the school grounds.
A very keen cyclist, Mrs Pont travels to and from school every day on
her bike, so look out for her on either her green or pink bike on your
way to school. We’d also like to welcome our two gap year students
this year, Miss Amy Partington and Miss Hannah Lord. Many of you
may have met Amy as she is helping to run the school shop. We hope
you will all feel very much part of the Ashdell Family very soon.
The Ashdell News Charity and Fundraising
This year the school has
chosen to support The
Sick Children’s Trust as it’s
major charity. The Trust provides free, high
-quality ‘Home from Home’ accommoda-
tion for families with sick children in hospi-
tal. Sheffield has Magnolia House and Tree
Top House. All our fundraising events this
year will be for this great cause, so lets do
our best for them everyone. We have a
visitor from the Trust coming to assembly
next Friday, so we look forward to hearing
all about it then.

WELCOME BACK * WELCOME BACK * WELCOME BACK * WELCOME BACK *
Our backroom staff have had a very busy summer in and around the school. A brand new non slip red floor was fitted in the dining room over the holidays and we have had extensive repairs to the roofs and gutters. A brand new server was installed just before the end of the summer term and despite one or two teething problems, it is up and running well. P1 classroom had a new projector and PP2 had the make over team in and had some decorating done. Thank you to Phil our care taker for all his hard work over the summer, the school looks fantastic!

New Prep 1 girls take a walk through History
Our ‘New Prep teacher ‘ Mrs Buchanan’, took her new Prep 1 for their first school trip out as Prep girls to Weston Park Mu-seum. The weather looked set to spoil the fun, but Mrs Buchanan
waved her magic wand and at exactly 10am the rain stopped , the sun came out and the girls set off walking, with their back bags full of scrummy lunches and lots of big smiles .The girls had a great day at the museum.
This year’s Head girl is Tamara (left) and our three pre-fects are Molly, Chloe and Ella( right). They are all very excited about their new roles in the school and are en-joying carrying out the various duties they have to do each day. Well done Girls, a great start to the new term, keep it up !
Many congratulations to our past girls and current girls on their success in recent music exams taken at the end of last term. Lily G, former P4 girl got a merit in both her Saxo-phone and Clarinet Grade 5 exams. Chloe H
(P4) got a merit in her Grade 1 clarinet and Millie (ex P4) and Ella ( ex P4) both got a pass for Grade 1 piano. Well Done Girls! We look forward to many more musical success stories this year.
